My parents are getting up there and we sibs continually look for the simpliest and easiest yard tools for them to use, rather than hire others to do the things that they still want to do on their own. This trimmer fits the bill; it's easy to use, light-weight, no gas/oil, no electric cords, no bumping.They love doing their own yard-work. This is certainly much quicker and efficient for them than other methods of trimming that they have used.
It was a great Father's Day gift !!

Great tool for grass trimming and edging. Not as powerful as my older corded, but still quite adequate. The freedom of movement is well worth the trade-off. Now the lawn and weeds get trimmed more often. Also, used it on thistle, dandelion and tall grass. No problem. Any weed or sprout with a tough or "woody" stem is a challenge. I went cordless with 3 major gardentools this year, the Stringtrimmer, a chainsaw and a polesaw. For me this is the way to go, rather than mess with mixing fuels, starting problems, etc. The B&D cordless trimmer and polesaw I bought are performing extremely well in all aspects. Of course the trimmer, since I am running it all out practically without stopping, requires me to change the battery about every 15 - 20 minutes of constant use. Since I also have a hedge trimmer from B & D I have plenty of batteries and can change to another battery within seconds. I purchased this B&D 12", 18V cordless string trimmer to replace a gas model. I was tired of the noise, smell, weight and vibration of the gas version. I am very pleased. The B&D does an great job and is easy to use. I am only 5'1" (100 pounds) so having a lightweight trimmer is a joy. It comes with two rechargable batteries. When I finish with one battery, I put the charger on it and install a charged one for the next time I need the trimmer. One battery lasts about 15 - 20 minutes which is about all I can handle at a time anyway. I would defintely recommend this trimmer to someone who doesn't want to spend the whole day weed-wacking or who doesn't need to clear the back 40.Customer Review: B&D Electric String Trimmer

I have had MANY yard/garden tools over the past thirty years. I bought this because I am recently "on my own" and don't have anything else that requires mixed gas. WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP!!! The salesperson told me the battery would last two hours. It lasts 15 minutes. I have given it several tries. I'm buying the mixed-gas real thing today and throwing this in the garbage. I would feel guilty even selling it in a yard sale.
