53 year old male.
I purchased this trimmer last year 09-27-09.
The unit is heavy with the 36 volt battery, much like one of the larger gas trimmers. It is powerful and will cut through any grass I trim. I have a 70 x 120 corner lot with ditches and 2 culverts, with 1900 sqft house, 3 fence sides, triple driveway, sidewalk, 15-tree-bush-poles-mailbox and around the house to trim. I can trim all this on one charge.
The only 2 times I could not trim everything was (1) when I did not trim the grass around the fence for one month. The thick grass cause me to spend longer than usual trimming and use full power, the battery died while trimming halfway trough the front yard, (2) I left the battery off the charger because I had gone on vacation and did not plug it back when I returned. It ran for almost 3/4 of the trim job.
Pros:
Battery charger has space for two batteries.
String is easy to replace.
Few cons:
1 - As I mentioned the unit is heavy. Your arms will be sore after using the trimmer for a while.
2 - The safety and power switch are awkward to operate where they are located.
3 - The battery being in front of the power switch causes all the weight to be towards the string head. It takes a little getting use to. A gas trimmer has the motor behind the trigger for balance, this trimmer does not have this balance.
4 - The option of a second battery would have been nice to include in a different model number. Battery is expensive, Google shopping over $100.
I would recommend this trimmer for anybody that can handle larger gas trimmers.
