As other reviewers noted, this unit is underpowered, even though it has a higher volt rating than comparable units. With a little practice you can learn how to reduce the number of jambs when the blades of the "Shrubber" jamb on even small branches or items. The charging time is much longer than most items of the kind - 16 hours - but the unit then goes for a long time before running out of enough power to do light duty work. I use this tool for light pruning of small shrubs in remote parts of my property. I have no use for the shears and could not speak to its capabilities.Customer Review: Avoid This

This is a certifiable piece of junk. It lacks sufficient power to cut anything. Worx has a similiar product with a decent battery. I replaced my B & D with the Worx and it does a better job.Customer Review: B & D cutter great for backyard

I'm a 65 year old granny with arthritic hands. This is the perfect tool for me. I cut shrubs, edge the walkway, chop down weeds, and shape hedges. Charge lasts about 20 min. before recharging. I am careful to clean the blades after each use and haven't had any problems with rust, etc. It fits my hand, isn't too heavy and it has been a terrific aid to me this spring. It is a great time saver and my hands don't hurt!
