This detector works great at monitoring temperatures that indicate leaks. I found several sockets and cracks that had not been insulated. Controls are simple and the multi-color indicator lamp is very useful at targeting the cold or hot spots. My nephew thinks it's a great toy, and my friends have asked to borrow it for their homes. This is an excellent tool for what it is designed for. To determine tempurture differences around walls, doors, windows, ceiling. If there is a temperature differnce say between 2 sections of a wall chances are you have an insulation problem or an air leak. The device is extremly accurate. I would recommend this product the only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it doesn't read a very high temp. THe max is about 150. Which I do understand because of accuracy you don't want a device that can read from 0-500 degrees it would be too costly to have a true read that is within 1 degree. So if you want this as a multi-tasking device it won't be the useful but for leak detection in the home it is excellent.Customer Review: Great tool, great toy

We check the temp of everything with this. The window cracks, the doors, the outdoor gas grill, the air vents in the house, the back of the fridge, dishes in the dishwasher, ice cubes, lcd tvs, car engines, anything!
