Find home heat or cold leaks by pointing the device at your doors, windows,
attic opening, wall outlets and switches. See where you are leaking heat or
cold to or from the outside. Insulate the leaks and save energy and money.

Customer Review: Handy infrared Thermometer with color beam
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this tool 3 weeks ago. Used many many times already. sensitive and accurate, The color beam makes this tool so easy and fun to use, I won't get one without it. The only suggestion I have is the temperature setting only has 1 degree, 5 degree, and 10 degree, I wish they have 2, 3 , and 4 degree settings too. Anyway, this is an excellent tool, I bet you will find many many different ways to use it.

Customer Review: Harvey
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer Review: Has unexpected uses
Summary: 5 Stars

I was replacing the water heater with a tankless unit when I forgot to label which pipe is hot and which is cold. A couple hours after disconnecting the lines, they felt the same to touch. So I took out the Black & Decker Thermal Leak Detector, went in the attic and measured the temp of the copper pipes. Sure enough one of them was 2 degrees warmer than the other one - 66 and 64 degrees consistently all the way. So I confirmed that I wouldn't get them reversed. This potentially saved me some copper re-soldering. This leak detector is one of those things you never know what you might use it for, til something happens.

Customer Review: Heat leak sensor
Summary: 4 Stars

Simple to use thermal detector. Great for documenting (winter or summer) temperature gradients around doorways, windows, outlet boxes, insulated air ducts, etc. Pays for itself almost immediately if information is used to seal up heat leaks.
