Tools and Hardware Reviews of the Bosch 1617EVS 2-1/4 HP Variable-Speed RouterTool Review: router hater converted! Summary: 5 Stars
I spent some 12 years as a designer/maker of fine furniture and now I'm involved in product design & development. While I recognised the usefulness (indispensibility even) of the router, I always hated it. Extremely noisy; dust & chips everywhere; rough & difficult to control with precision. So, when my Hitachi recently died, looking around for a replacement, I read some reviews of this machine. For reasons best known to themselves, Bosch do not sell it outside the States, but I decided to take the risk and got a friend to send one over to the UK. I am SO glad I did ... this machine good! It is so smooth and (relatively) quiet; adjustment's simple and precise; the low handles make it really easy to control and it's well made. My only gripe is its lack of proper dust extraction. I have no hesitation recommending this router.
