Also the dust collector/filter is something! My old sanders used to release a lot of dust in the air.

For me, this sander gets a BIG 5 Stars, no doubt. I'm a novice regarding working with wood basically, having little experience after high school wood shop classes. But I needed to get a sander to sand my redwood deck rails & spindles, while restoring my deck. Well this sander worked awesome. The dust collector, although it doesn't collect 100% of the dust, does a very good job. It fills up quickly, but is very easy to empty. You'll still get some dust in your face and airways, so it's best to know the wind direction or ventilation system air flows to help reduce this condition. I haven't used the vacuum attachment, but I'm confident that the vac attachment would greatly improve the dust condition.
This little sander made easy work of sanding many redwood rails and spindles. It make my work go VERY quickly.
The unit is easy to hold and handle, it's weight is OK to manage, and is pretty quite for the work it does. I was using 60 grit, so I have no experience with it's finishing abilities. But other reviews said it leaves no "swirling" marks.
The Hook & Loop sand paper attachment system is simply great. I read many reviews on other sanders prior to this purchase. Many had good reviews, but holding the sand paper was an issue. No issue with this unit after 3 solid hours of heavy use, wearing out paper and changing it several times. I changed paper a few times, and it's easy & quick. Just buy the 5" 8-hole paper, works like a charm.
It comes in a very nice case, with vacuum attachment, medium pad, and one piece of 80 grit paper. The extension cord is long (8'?) and works well.
I highly recommend mend this sander from my experience.

Two young kids have reduced me to a weekend DIYer at best, therefore I don't have a lot of time to mess around with tools that jam easily or can only perform on a B-grade level. I researched the heck out of RO sanders, and narrowed it down to about three--DeWalt, Porter Cable, and Bosch. The variable speed option and the dust collection capabilities tipped the scales for Bosch. I don't even bother with a dust mask anymore (although I know I should) when sanding; the dust collection is that good. The sander has a smooth start up, and the tool vibration is slight to minimal. I think this sander was about $10 more than my other top choices, and I definitely made the right decision; it was well worth the money. If this sander seems like it has a bunch of features you'll never use, you won't be sorry you over-bought. Most likely, you'll use the features but just won't know it.Customer Review: Great sander

The moment I picked this tool up I new it was quality. Fits perfectly in your hands. Dust collection is unbelievably good. Almost no dust escapes and you can probably get by without a dust mask if your outside. You do have to empty it often, every 10 to 15 minutes or so but hey, would rather unclick it and bang it on the side of the trash can than be covered with the stuff and inhaling it! I couldnt believe it the first time I was sanding. Very quiet, very smooth, you dont have to wear ear plugs anymore! This is my first bosch but not my last. Variable speed is excellent. Switch location is in the back so your not accidently speeding it up or slowing it down. I have used this sander about every other day since owning it and have yet to notice a flaw. I doubt if I will. Highly reccomend this tool. It will make sanding those projects enjoyable.Customer Review: Great tool for the money
