Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bosch VAC001 19mm-by-15-Foot Friction Fit HoseCustomer Review: It Fits Bosch Tools Only Summary: 3 Stars
I bought it to use it with a Bosch 1294VSK Corner Detail Sander (that I already bought) and a Bosch 6" random orbital sander (that I will order). It works fine with the corner detail sander. I used it for an hour and the hose didn't come loose.
But I cannot give it a high mark for the following two reasons:
1. It doesn't work with other non-Bosch tools. For example, it doesn't work with my Dewalt 5" random orbital sander. I ended up using my hand to hold on with the connection. I probably can make them work together using a duct tape or something, or probably not.
2. 15-ft long sounds great. But when it is connected to the hose end of my shop vac, the air flow seems to be quite low. I think the combined length of the shop vac hose and this 15-ft hose may be just too long and creating too much friction for air flow. Moreover, the diameter of this hose is very short; this probably also reduces the air flow. Having said this, I can use it to sand and still keep the dusts in the air to the minimum when I was using it with my Dewalt sander (with my hand holding on with the connection). May be the suction is still good even though the air flow is low. I don't know because I am not an expert in this area. Still, I probably will like it better if it is only 5-ft long.
Customer Review: Not quite what I expected... Summary: 3 Stars
I must not have read the listing well enough... The large port is 2 1/4" in diameter, and does not fit my 2 1/2" diameter hose. I also didnt realize that the hose was so thin, but this does help in making it easier to use when attached to the sander. It does do the job, just not sure how long it will hold up to shop conditions.
Customer Review: Poor Durability Summary: 1 Stars
PROs - Lightweight, flexible and easy to use with portable tools. Really works well with hand drywall sanding tool.
CONs - Contrary to the photo on the amazon website, this hose is not reinforced like the original equipment hose that came with my Bosch 3931 professional vacuum. It is constructed of a very flimsy flexible plastic which is very easy to pinch. Once pinched, the hose collapses whenever the hose intake is restricted and further reduces air flow. It was a waste of money. I will need to obtain a reinforced hose which does not have this problem.
Customer Review: Screaming Banshee Summary: 1 Stars
Beware of this product. I purchase the Vac001 to use with my Bosch detail sander and orbital sander. I hooked it up to my 6.5 HP shop vac and it screamed like a banshee. I called Bosch and said that some of them do this and I should return it. I did so and hooked up the second Vac001 to my Shop vac and had the same results. I called Bosch again and they admitted that it won't work with an more powerful Shop Vac.
Customer Review: Screaming meemie Summary: 1 Stars
This hose fit all that they claim it does but when using it with a vacuum cleaner it screams so loud at the tool end that I have to put on hearing protection. This happens even when not connected to a tool and when the adapter is pulled out of the hose. Seems that the corrugations in the hose cause the problem. Also the hose is stiff and inflexible. I'm returning it.
