Tools and Hardware Reviews of Brita 42202 Ultra Faucet Filter, with PitcherCustomer Review: Does not work in New York City...but the pitcher does Summary: 1 Stars
After less than 2 weeks of using the Brita faucet filtration device, filtered water emerged only in drips. After hearing a brief description of this problem, a Brita customer service rep guessed (correctly) that I lived in the New York City area. It seems that the size of sediment particles in NYC water is too small for the initial screen in the filter. This causes the main part of the device to clog up...which causes the filter, after only a few days of use, to dispense perfectly filtered water but only in drips. Brita is aware of this difficulty. There is no way to fix it, except to change the filter every week or two--an expensive proposition. The Brita customer service rep immediately offered to refund the purchase price and sent me a prepaid mailer to send the filter back to Brita, which I did. BTW, the Brita pitcher, which uses a different filtration system, does not have this problem.
Customer Review: Easy Filtered Water Summary: 5 Stars
I love the ease of filtered water using the Brita Ultra Faucet Filter. It is easy to install and change the filter. I was using a filter pitcher for all drinking water but this is so much easier and filtered water is always available. No more waiting for the water to drip through the filter of the pitcher. The filtered water is clean and clear. It even lets you know when a new filter is needed. I will never be without one of these on the faucet.
Customer Review: Fantastic Filter! Summary: 5 Stars
I used to use the Brita pitcher for years. I loved the quality of the water, but I didn't like that it took up counter space (or fridge space), and I didn't like waiting for the water to filter - (a big pain if you want to make a pitcher of lemonade and there's only a pint of water left in the pitcher). The faucet filter solves both of those problems. I can get as much filtered water as I need without waiting for it to filter. And I have one less thing on the counter. Perfect! I'm happy with the quality of the water, which I rate using the "tea test". I filter water, boil it in a clean vessel (free of mineral deposits), then make a cup of Orange Pekoe tea. If the brewed tea is clear, then I'm happy. If it's cloudy, then I'm not happy. I first tried a Pur faucet filter and got cloudy tea. With the Brita faucet filter, the tea is clear every time. I have had none of the problems that a previous reviewer mentioned -- no leaking or problems with the lights. I am curious to know, however, how they can tell that their filter isn't working.
Customer Review: Filter & Shower in one! Summary: 1 Stars
Will just reinforce the fact that these things are poorly designed. Have now had two of these units suddenly spring leaks, as described by several other reviewers-- spraying all over the place and being generally unusable. Exchanged the first one, and will contact Brita about the second unit. It's too bad, because they're good when they work.
Customer Review: Filter leaks Summary: 3 Stars
After using the Brita faucet-mounted filter for over a year, a leak suddenly developed under the "collar" part which is attached to the faucet. It had nothing to do with the washer, which we checked. The water started spurting out in all directions. When I called the Customer Service, however, they promised to ship me a replacement without asking too many questions. I suspect this problem is fairly common as I have read about it on other review sites (some people started having this problem after 3 months).
