Studs really frustrate me! I have bought many electronic stud finders I even went so far as to buy the high end Zircon which I find is also hit or miss. This is so simple and amazingly easy to use but it would be even better with an aluminum weight on a plumb line. I even let my kids play with it and they were able to find the studs.
Best $10 ever!

After using a variety of "stud finding" tools, I've finally ended my search. Short of high tech instrumentation not available to the general public, this stud finder is as good as it gets. It's amazing how we spend a lot of money on battery powered stud finders with all sorts of lights and sounds, when all you really need is this boring yellow magnet.Customer Review: Best of all no batteries

You never have to worry about batteries since the STUD4SURE is magnetic. It works by finding the screws in the drywall or the nails in the studs and you definitely know when you've found one.

I have used a ton of different stud finders, and this one is definitely the quickest way to find a stud. I used it the first time for nailing up trim and it was super fast and easy, not to mention that it hangs there while you are nailing so you don't need to mark the wall. The leveler is perfect for getting it to point straight up and down. I would recommend this for anyone looking for the fastest way to find a stud.
One thing to note is that it may not always be the most accurate since the reference point is a nail. The nail MAY be perfectly centered on the stud but it also may be to the left or right. Not a big deal, but a good normal stud finder will still provide better stud center accuracy albeit a ton slower.

I have an old house built in the early 1900's and it has the old lathe and horsehair plaster. I've tried all the electronic stud finders and all of them proved to be useless in my case. This one finds the stud every time because of the strenth of the magnet. because of the thickness of my plaster I have to hold it very loosly and it does not hang on the wall like it does when you use it on dry wall but you can feel it pull to the nail in the stud holding the lathe to the stud easily so you know that you are pretty close to the center of the stud and it never misses. If you use it on a wall with wallboard it will pull it right out of your hand. It is incredible. This stud finder does one job and it does it incredibly well. Anyone hanging cabinets or shelves has to have this. Forget the electronic ones that sense density and go with this. You won't be dissapointed.
