Working as a residential real estate appraiser, I was looking for simple, accurate and un-complicated laser measurer for situations where a measuring tape was not possible or practical to use. This device has served that purpose quite well. I still prefer the tape, but this measurer has proven to be a good supplemental tool. As others have noted, outdoors in sunlight it is difficult to see the laser spot, and a back-lit display would be a good improvement, but overall it performs well. It is relatively inexpensive compared to others with all of the bells and whistles, it is simple to use, it is not bulky, and it comes with a velcro strap holster. For my needs, it was a good buy.

Very good product. Only bad thing is that there are some metals that mess with the laser and cause it not to work.. I've found it to be even more accurate than the 1/4" they claim..

I've owned this tool for about 6 months now. I use it at work to estimate distances and I've used around the house for various handyman tasks. Overall, I'd say it's hard to beat for the money. I do have access to a much better tool at work (can't remember the brand) with a much longer range and better interface but that tool costs about $500.

Pros
- Price, cheap enough for what you get
- Easy to use and makes for Fast Work
- Accurate enough for rough work, estimating, planning. For finish carpentry, use a rule.
- Small and light
- Color, not easy to loose.
- Rubber protection on corners in case it gets dropped

Cons
- Laser is almost impossible to see outside in sunlight without special glasses
- Target must be reflective
- no audiable confirmation of distance shoot
- have to change modes for lengths under 14" or so (measure from front mode vs measure from back mode)
- 100 feet is a rather short distance in an industrial application, but I knew the limitations before purchasing.

Easy to learn to use. Particularly helpful in situations where it is difficult to walk between two points with a tape measure because of obstacles. 'Have not checked extensively, but spot checks of distance accuracy have been good. However, outdoor range is limited - something like 30-40 feet. 'Tried using a reflector for a target to increase outdoor range, which made the laser dot visible at greater distance but did not extend the range at which the unit reports a measurement (at least with the reflector that I used). Overall, compared to the alternatives, good value for the money.
