This kit worked great .. In most cases one does not have to replace anything but the gear (worm gear normally not bad). Easy to replace the teflon gear . Can be done in abt an hour. .... little more involved if you decide to replace all the kit parts. May have to remove the door opener from the bracket to do that. Otherwise simple for just the teflon gear.

The Liftmaster Gear Kit 41a2817 is compatible with Chamberlain Liftmaster Sears Craftsman units manufactured 1984-current. The manufacture date can be found on the motor head.
