Customer Review: Best price on the Web!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a garage door dealer, I can assure you that this is the authentic Liftmaster kit. I do recommend hiring a pro to do the work!

Customer Review: Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Gear Kit exactly as described
Summary: 5 Stars

The Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Gear Kit arrived quickly, and was exactly as described. The instructions were adequate, and the parts exactly as needed to replace the gears for my Sears 1/3 HP 1993 garage door opener. One minor item - the set screws which go into the retainer on the end of the motor shaft and which holds the helical gear on were too long, and once installed would hit the plastic speed limiter mechanism. I used the original set screws which fit in the new retainer just fine.

Customer Review: Chamberlain/Sears gear kit review
Summary: 5 Stars

Excellent kit. It includes everything you need to completely rebuild wear items. I only replaced the main drive gear as the worm was only slightly worn. It took about an hour. Hardest part was removing the roll pins that hold the gear to the shaft (I used my bench vise to hold the gear/shaft). If you have V-blocks this would be easier. The garage door operated very smoothly afterwards. Definitely recommend giving this kit a try if you are mechanically inclined. Much better than buying a new opener when all that's needed are a few inexpensive parts.

Parts also came quickly and were well packaged.

Customer Review: Check the problem first
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading all reviews here, I thought I'd give it a try.

The gear was all shredded up and I didn't want to spend $400 on a new opener.

A few comments:
1. Yes, you need 2 people to do this job (at least to put it back up)
2. Yes, getting the pin out is very, very difficult. Make sure to get the correct tool or you are in big trouble.
3. MAKE SURE TO CHECK WHY THE GEAR WAS WORN IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!

Turns out that I spent hours getting this gear on and not having fun doing so. Started the garage door up, and turns out my limit switch was not working, therefore shredding the gear up to nothing. Check the limit switch by touching the brass contacts before you go through this nightmare. If the motor does not stop, don't waste your time. At this time, if you are not an electronics expert, you are basically out of luck.

Ended up getting a whole new opener.

If the gear is really "worn" from regular use, and that's the only problem, yes, you will save money by doing this.....but......make sure you have 3 hours, the correct tools, and some patience or beer to get you though it.
