Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote ControlCustomer Review: Easy setup works great. Summary: 5 Stars
Easy to setup, works wonderfully. Slightly shorter range than the original remote. Should be cheaper though.
Customer Review: Easy to install, easy to use, good design, highly recommended. Summary: 5 Stars
Follow the directions and it works like a charm. Open's either door on separate codes. Oooh-ahhh!
Customer Review: Easy to program Summary: 5 Stars
It took longer to drag out the ladder than to program the remote to use with the two 11 year old Overhead Door garage door openers we have. There are 2 possible settings for those doors; the first one didn't work, but it took just seconds to try the second and Voila--success. It is more sensitive and has slightly more range than the 2 old remotes I have.
Customer Review: Easy to program clicker trumps the minimal range Summary: 4 Stars
I wanted to add support to those who complimented this product for its ease of use. I was able to program the clicker to my 1990 liftmaster (didn't know the year at the time of programming) with little effort, even though my opener didn't have a "learn" button. The programming process requires you to click the button until it syncs with the model & year of your opener, the range of models and years is quite impressive. I didn't know the year of my opener, but I worked through the clicks and it programmed and helped me learn the model year of my opener at the same time. I had previously contacted an installer and they were set to charge me $45 for a clicker and wanted me to pay $60 for a service fee to have someone come and install the clicker. I picked this up from amazon for $25 and am very pleased.
BUT! I did have to give it 4 stars due to its very limited range. I pretty much have to be parked outside of my garage door for it to open. However, I am still very pleased that I was able to program the clicker so quickly and at such a reasonable price. Very user friendly and likely to work with your opener too!
Customer Review: Easy to program, reliable, but short-range universal clicker Summary: 4 Stars
I have purchased two of these Chamberlain universal garage door clickers to give additional convenience to my household. The Craftsman garage door was originally installed in 1990, long before I purchased the home. Since only one clicker came with the house, additional units were needed. After reading various reviews, I settled on this model. Programming was extremely easy: push one button on the door motor, and use the clicker button a certain number of times as explained in the instructions. Nothing to it, and no need to mess around with dip switches.
While I have only one large garage door for my two-car garage, this model has the ability to work for two distinct doors for people with that need. A nice feature where applicable, I would imagine. My only criticism is that the range of the Chamberlain units are noticeably less than the original Craftsman clicker that came with the garage door. With the original clicker, I can be several houses away and still operate the door. With the Chamberlain universal, I need to be practically in front of the garage. To be honest, my driveway is rather short and I consider this a very minor inconvenience, so this is the only reason my review is 4 stars rather than 5.
