I purchased this clock because my old clock didn't have a backup battery so if the power went out I would have to reset my clock. I read the reviews and they seemed pretty good. I received my clock today and right out of the box the clock was off by 2mins. I read the instructions and changed the time manually. Unfortunately, When I set the time manually the Seconds are 8 seconds behind according to my cell phone and the Official US Time on[..]
So basically I have to wait 8 seconds for my clock to change after my cell phone changes. Not the end of the world right. But I figured that just for good measure I would call the Manufacturer 877-221-1252. The woman advised me how to set the clock which I already read in the instructions. I told her that my other clocks automatically reset the seconds to zero once I set the clock so all of my other clocks are within a second or less from my phone. I asked her if this clock can reset the seconds to zero. She didn't know and advised me to exchange the clock if I thought it might be defective. I figure with a name like ACU>RITE they would be Accurate. Just Sayin.
Other than the fact that my clock will be 8 seconds off the Atomic Clock it should serve it's purpose. As for the : blinking. I turned off all my lights and I don't foresee this being a problem and this clock is close to my bed. The light isn't intense enough to be annoying but bright enough to see easily in a dark or well lit room. I will make another review on the performance of this clock if it should fail me in any other way.
I give this clock a 4 star rating only because It isn't 100 percent Accurate like they make it out to be.
I might be able to resolve this issue by taking out the Backup Battery or something but it isn't worth the time it takes to find a small screwdriver to try it. I can live with the 8 second delay. I will just have to Set and Forget like the name says.

Not only did this item ship on time and arrive in perfect condition, but the thing works like a charm--it's so easy to set up! I read the multiple reviews and decided I could deal with the flashing colon and check out the alarm sound for myself. No problem with the colon or alarm, but setting the alarm is difficult. The hours jump ahead which requries setting the wake time over and over again. This is even with very careful manipulation of the buttons. Also, the on-off switch is so tight, I have to turn the clock over to set or turn off the alarm. Perhaps my clock is an anomaly, but I intend to purchase another clock. This one is a pain to use. Also, the time setting was incorrect when first plugged in, but it was easy to correct.
