Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chrome Microwave CartCustomer Review: Nice and easy to put together Summary: 5 Stars
This cart is sturdy, very nice-looking and easy to put together. The wheels really help move the cart when it's time to clean the floor. Although the directions say no tools needed, you'll need a rubber mallet to nudge the shelves onto the plastic sleeves that hold them to the posts. Took about 20 minutes to put together.
Customer Review: No similar cart is cheaper. Summary: 5 Stars
I have seen similar carts for about $50 that do NOT have wood tops, just metal grids. I own two of these. The microwave lives on top of one, the coffee maker on the other one. A toaster oven I don't use as much is on the bottom of one and my crock pot on the bottom of the other one. My entire 2 sets of Farberware occupy the middle two shelves. Everyone says they look fantastic and when I tell them they are from Target and cost $30 each, they are dumbfounded! Especially since the rest of my kitchen is custom solid wood cabinets and granite countertop. These match my cherry cabinets perfectly and my stainless steel appliances. I plan to buy a 3rd and stick it in between the two I already have, without the hooks, to form a seamless counter on one entire blank wall in my kitchen. It sure beats spending an additional $1500 for cabinets on that wall! PS - I also have two matching pantry carts, and I recommend them wholeheartedly as well.
Customer Review: Not Very Sturdy Summary: 2 Stars
My husband and I put this on our registry because we were going to be living in a small apartment and needed the extra space. Friends of his mom bought it for us, and when we tried to put it together, the middle shelf broke. Also, the wooden top just kind of sits on there, it doesn't bolt in or anything. It doesn't have enough support on the bottom and the materials are not heavy duty, so I wouldn't recommend putting a microwave or anything else remotely heavy on it, but as extra storage for light items, it would be okay.
Customer Review: Not a bargain! Summary: 1 Stars
I wasn't expecting anything fabulous for the price, but am still very disappointed. The first cart I purchased was defective, so I took it back to Target and exchanged it. The replacement wasn't defective and I assembled it. It seems to be ok holding the microwave, but wobbles when I touch it, and I didn't dare use the casters, as there is no way to secure them and they kept falling out while I was trying to get the thing to stand properly on them. I don't see this being a piece that will hold together for any amount of time. This is a somewhat heavy item for a petite person like me to handle, and it's tempting just to throw it out and shrug off the $, instead of making another trip, but I'll probably end up taking this back to Target for a refund. I'd put zero stars if I wasn't prompted to rate this with at least one star.
Customer Review: Perfect for small spaces!! Summary: 4 Stars
It's a really great cart for those without a lot of space. Took about a half hour to put together. Mine doesn't wobble at all. My microwave just fits on it. The shelves seem sturdy and although they tell you not to exceed the recommended weight for items placed atop the shelves, they don't tell you what that weight is. I didn't use the 4 tiny screws that are supposed to screw into the top of the cart. They were too tiny to hold and I don't see why they are really needed as long as you don't ever lift it up by top it should be ok.
