Tools and Hardware Reviews of Classic Accents Single Pole Antique Reproduction Push Button Light Switch

Customer Review: Awesome switch
Summary: 5 Stars

ditch the standard light switch if you have a classic home. Get at least one of these, and you'll want more.

Customer Review: Can't beat 'em
Summary: 4 Stars

We've used a lot of these in our Craftsman-style home. Also, I've restored some of the really old ones. There's not a big difference -- perhaps for a purist. Hey, if you want the heft and feel of the 'real thing', sometimes a seller on ebay has them. Sometimes. You'll end up paying a lot more.

Summary: 2 Stars

I was highly disappointed with these light switches. They appear very cheaply made, and paying over 20 times more than a standard switch didn't sit well to find that they feel and sound cheap. They are made in China.

Customer Review: Not the best construction, but they're the only ones available
Summary: 3 Stars

I've replaced half of the push button switches in our 1912 Craftsman home and like the others have posted here, the "ease" of the button action is different than the originals. Probably due to the older ones (if you open them up) having a gradual, sliding type of switch pole mechanism rather than the newer abrupt off/on switch. The cool thing about these newer ones is that they also come in dimmer style --- something early 20th century folk probably wish they'd had.

My only complaint is that the Mother of Pearl button cover easily pops out (not enough glue at the factory?) so I lost mine.

Customer Review: The switch works, but it's cheaply made.

If you can find a better model, buy it instead. I replaced an older model Classic Accents push button switch (that had failed) with this one. I'm just not impressed with the design. Older push button switches in my house don't feel as cheap (when you press them down) as these newer replacements. What do I mean by "cheap"? Wobbly buttons that don't seem to engage completely.

To be fair, Classic Accents has fast shipping and the switch works as advertised. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a 90 day return policy.
