Tools and Hardware Reviews of Cobra Products 400 Zip-It Drain Cleaning ToolCustomer Review: Be prepared for what this thing does. Summary: 5 Stars
It works so well I was caught off guard when the hairball and soap mass came out. You may want to wear disposable gloves and have a trash bag at the ready. Just be careful, the prongs are sharp.
Customer Review: Best $1.99 I ever spent! Summary: 5 Stars
Seriously, this thing is amazing. I ended up having to take the plug out of the sink to get the enormous glob of hair out of the drain (easy), but it worked very well. I had been pouring drain de cleaner down it for some time with no results, this worked the first time and got the pipe clean!
Customer Review: Cheap but useful Summary: 4 Stars
Bought for drain maintenance on a high end vacation rental property In Hot Springs Village AR. Worked nicely to clean all shower and sink drains in the house. Bought a spare to use here at home as well. The teeth get hung up a bit on the drain plug rigging as you try to take it out but I found that if you twist it as you remove it retains the hair and clears the metal bit by bit.
Customer Review: Cheapest and most useful tool in my workshop Summary: 5 Stars
My girl's long hair has been causing a very slow drain in the tub. 1 push in, then out, and all the hair came, and the drain is nice and quick now. Well worth the $. Say's single use, and would be well worth it. Cleaning could be dangerous, as it says, and plastic may not last too long (not designed to), but I plan to re-use (even if not, I've gotten my $ worth). With all tools I have around my shop, this is still the cheapest and most handy for its job. I did clean mine off (by carefully wiping in the direction of the teeth, to get hair into trash, the rinsing.
Note that this is NOT supposed to a drain snake, that reaches deep into the pipe to remove all obstructions. The intent is to snag and pull out the clumps of hair that can get caught in the trap, which is rarely more than 2 feet from the drain. It seems to great job of that. If you need something deep in, get a manual or power snake or call a plumber. But for a $2 investment, it's worth first seeing if you just have hair.
Customer Review: Cleaned drain alright Summary: 3 Stars
I placed it down the drain several times and some gunk came up. Unfortunately, it was a black sludge not the hair I'd hoped. It cleaned the drain for now but it looks like we might have a bigger problem.
I'd recommend this product, just hope it's only hair.
