Ok, so I like the concept. It is easy to tumble, although as it gets fuller it gets heavier, but you can use your feet to do it too.
I did NOT like that the lid is smaller than the opening, so there is a gap left when you close the composter. Such gap is big enough for roaches or iny biny mice to get inside it.
My main reason to acquire the composter was to keep rodents away from my trash, which used to have food-leftover mixed in it. My plan was to have a better control of those left-overs, to protect my house from those creepers coming near it ever again. Well, ever since the first night I tried my composter, rodents have been very pessitent to get in it. Therefore, they're still around my place. That first night gnawed on the drum, the edges of the lid and even the base!! Fortunately the plastic is not that thin, so I was able to see the problem the next morning before they destroyed my $140-worth piece of plastic. I decided to seal the edges of the drum's opening so there would be no gap anymore when I closed the lid. (I used bottom door sealer)The small slots in the drum for aeration were left open and just protected with a mosquito mesh...
Well, they still gnawed on it!! I was told by the seller that pests would not be a problem since the compost cooks at such high temperatures. Yeah, but what happens in the time when you're just adding food and it hasn't started cooking yet?!?!?!
I decided to put my Envirocycle inside my garage, which slows down the decomposition process since there's no sun there to help with the cooking. I shut the door, sealed any possible rodent access from the outside, and sprayed the composter with pests repeller all around it.
So far, it hasn't given me any more trouble. Sometimes some smell comes out, but adding more browns in it decreases the smell significantly.
I also agree with the many who have complained about the latch. It is very weak, I am afraid mine is going to break pretty soon.
Overall I believe the manufacturer just HAS to come up with a better lid and "pests free" solution. Other than that, it works fine as a composter.
Description of Composter/Composter Tea Maker Spins and Tumbles
Rolling Composter and Composteamaker Spinner for organic kitchen scraps and yard waste. This excellent compost bin solves the issue of keeping your compost turned. Throw away your pitchfork, because now you can turn your compost simply by spinning the drum. Even better, the base of the composter collects liquid, so you can produce 5 gallons of compost tea with no additional effort! Compost tea is full of nutrients, and a great way to perk up everything from vegetables to flowers to houseplants. You can also configure the base to just drain the liquid into the ground if you prefer. When you are ready to remove finished compost to spread it on your lawn or garden, you can simply roll the tumbler to the area where you want the compost, open the door, and remove the compost from the compost bin. To remove compost tea from the base, you simply roll the compost tumbler away, and then pick up the base and open the drain to pour your compost tea into a bucket, or directly onto your garden or houseplants. The base has eight rollers so you can easily spin the tumbler. The composter takes about four to six weeks to create ready-to-use compost under normal conditions, or just two to three weeks in ideal conditions. It can easily handle the amount of organic waste suitable for composting generated by an average family. The composter can produce 450 to 900 pounds of compost per year, and has a volume of 7 cubic feet. Yard waste makes up 25 to 50 percent of all municipal waste! Don't throw away material that will help you make the richest, most fertile soil available. Dimensions The height of the composter is 29 3/4 inches, length is 26 1/2 inches, and depth 21 inches. Capacity: Holds 7 cubic feet of materials -- approximately 53 gallons. The compost bin has a shipping weight of 24 pounds and comes in a carton that is L 26" x W20.5" x D 31.5".
