Tools and Hardware Reviews of Corby 5500 Original Trouser PresserCustomer Review: Clothes Fanatic Summary: 5 Stars
The Corby 5500 is a must have for anyone concerned about daily clothes maintenance. This presser works better than I originally anticipated. It even puts a new crisp crease in cotton slacks (although to get the best effect you should do both sides). On wools it works even better. You won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: Corby 5500 pants presser Summary: 4 Stars
I have been using Corby pants pressers in my home for more than twenty years -- ever since I found them at a hotel in London. I have four pressers -- two for my wife and two for me --one each in our northern home, and one each in our southern vresidence.
This one replaces a Corby Pants Presser that broke after 3 years -- and can not be fixed (the heating element broke -- and manufacturer would not repair the item.) This is the first time we had one where the heating element broke. Previously the timing device had broken on one.
The Corby presser still does a great job -- and would rate a 5 star -- if we did not have these broken and not repairable problems.
Customer Review: Corby pant press Summary: 3 Stars
This is my second corby pant press. I bought the new one because the heating pad on the old one was wearing out. The new one does not work as well as the original. It works very well on thick fabric, but not on thin. It tends to put small wrinkles in thin polyester or blend pants, on one side only. So, I often need to turn them over and repress to remove the wrinkles.
Customer Review: Corby performs Perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
This product does everything it says it does. A few wrote in about not ironing in the waist areas..it's not designed to. It's also not supposed to get real hot, hence- it's a low-heat iron, using pressure, not the temperature of the sun, to take out the wrinkles. Also by doing so, I've noticed that many of my newer slacks are not being as worn thin as quickly. Perhaps I just iron too hard. I use my press everyday. About 30 minutes before I go to bed, I put in a pair of slacks, let the press perform its magic and presto, my pants are ready to go for the morning. Does this totally replace ones iron? Of course not. If you're looking to never have to iron again, get a maid. If your looking for a less expensive way of getting your trousers looking fresh for work, rather than spending mucho dinero at the dry cleaners, buy a Corby. The Corby performs better than I expected. It's great!
Customer Review: Damaged Product Summary: 4 Stars
The product works fine. I ordered the more exprensive one after I read reviews from others on Amazon. My husband likes the presser. It does a good job pressing his pants. However, it was damaged in the box when we received it. We decided it was too much trouble to send it back. The box was torn and the presser had a chuck knocked out of it.
