My kitchen has a center bar that is difficult for my granddaughters to reach. With the step stools they can get themselves up and down which is important when you are 4.
The chair reminds me of the one I used at my grandmother's house.
They took longer than anticipated to put together but are very sturdy and well balanced.

The chair is OK, but it isn't at all like the quality of the "old" type chairs with stool. The stairs slide in and out rather than lift out like the old chairs/stools. The seat area is small. I am going to flee markets to see if I can find an original chair, which I would rather have. Our first shock was the price of shipping! The next came when we discovered a box full of loose parts and two kinds of bolts or screws. Instructions weren't clear about which screw or bolt to use and we stripped the threads with the first couple holes we tried to fill. It took us about 2 hours to assemble, though now that we've done it once we could repeat the task in about 15 minutes. The last surprise came when we put the chair on the kitchen floor. It's feet slid on the linoleum like the floor was ice. We have to put a throw rug or something under the feet to prevent them from sliding or someone is going to break their neck! The chair itself isn't bad looking, but isn't as useful as we'd hoped.Customer Review: Retro Stool is too cool

Love this stool that reminds me of Grandma's house. The only reason it did not receive 5 stars is that the stool part is not level. I worked and worked and could not get it level. Not sure what it problem is. It still works okay though. The only instructions for assembly were in French. There were good diagrams and my sister-in -law grew up in France so we got it together. My 19 month old loves to climb up and down and the steps are just right.Customer Review: Retro chair/step stool

Chair/step stool was very easy to assemble and is also comfortable to use. I can leave it in my kitchen rather than hunt for my other stepstool that is kept elsewhere in the house.
