Tools and Hardware Reviews of Crawford-Lehigh RC40 40-Feet Retractable ClotheslineCustomer Review: Satisfactory Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this product because i live in an apartment building that does not allow clotheslines on the balconies. I decided to hang the line near the balcony door to allow light and air to flow through. i had to spray paint the unit, because it is not an actual true white (more gray) so that it would blend into my wall. It is still large (approx 8inches across), so it doesn't quite blend in.
the line itself is very well made with the plastic coating. and the retractor is very fast so be careful with retracting. on the unit there is a piece that allows you to wrap the line so that it wont retract. I have done so, but i notice the line is still not taut and slopes downward.
If your intended use is to hang on drywall, I would highly recommend purchasing additional hardware. since i wanted to hang more than one piece of clothing. the hardware that was provided is very lightweight and easily rips out of drywall. i had to purchase larger, longer hooks and screws to drill into my drywall and studs.
Customer Review: Smart way to help save on your gas & electric bill Summary: 5 Stars
I used this item all summer. I was very pleased with it. No problems. Extra long cord. I have a super small yard so this is a great way to hang clothes out to dry and then when done I can retract the cord, So that the cord is not always out for viewing. Great Buy!! Great way to help reduce your carbon footprint.
Customer Review: Stopped working after a minimum number of uses Summary: 1 Stars
This is called a retractable clothes line for a reason: Because it retracts. Or is supposed to. Its retractability was the big appeal for me, since I don't want to have a clothes line strung across my backyard except for when I need it. I used this clothes line 10 times or less, and then it stopped working. It suddenly stopped retracting one day, out of the blue. That amounts to about $1.50 per use, which isn't the end of the world. But why can't companies make good, durable products anymore? We waste so many natural resource manufacturing and shipping what amounts to lots of crap nowadays. Oh well, I can still use the clothes line, but instead of retracting the line I have to coil it up by hand and hang it over the unit that it's supposed to retract into. If you don't mind doing that yourself, buy away!
Customer Review: Sturdy product, quite large Summary: 5 Stars
This is the sturdiest clothesline we've ever purchased. The line is thick and strong, the tension holds (rather than droops, like some other clotheslines) and is easy to put away. It is, however, quite large. We live in an apartment, so it is quite visible on our 12-ft balcony. A better fit for a larger, outdoor space, I think. But still works great in a smaller space.
Customer Review: Sturdy with adjustments Summary: 5 Stars
Went and purchased sturdy hook after reading other reviews plus stronger screws. Works like a dream love it!!
