Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level-4 Under-Sink Drinking Water SystemCustomer Review: Excellent water and system, sub-par fixture Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this after wanting to get away from bottled water which is expensive and not environmentally friendly. Unfortunately, the local water is less than desirable (terrible taste). The reviews here tell the tale already - it's easy to install and it's also easy to change out filters (and you can choose the one you want as you see there are many levels of filters for the system). Again, the system was easy to install but the fixture is horrible. It's plastic so while trying to install on the sink area the base of the plastic broke from the fixture itself. Not cool. To improvise I put it back together with super glue but this is obviously not recommended - I did it because I didn't want to undo what I already started. I've already replaced it with a Watts fixture which is cheap but is all metal and it's working much better and I'm not worrying about someone with heavy hands breaking it off and having water going everywhere. The system now is working well and the water it's delivering is great. Looking forward to using this for a long while.
Customer Review: Extremely Poor Quality Fixture Summary: 2 Stars
I bought 3 of these systems, one for my primary residence, one for my secondary and another for a family member. I am very handy and installation steps were easy. When I installed the first faucet the plastic stem broke while I was finger tightening the nut that secures it to the sink. I returned the broken one right away and Amazon gave me a replacement. I did sucessfully install one of the other faucets after being very cautious, not cause stress on the plastic stem. However, when I was able to install the other two,the same thing happened (valve stem broke while finger tightening) with the the remaining installations. The successfull install worked well and we really liked it until after 4-6 months of use. One night just before going to bed, the stem on the faucet spontaneously broke and we luckily detected it before going to bed. Water went everywhere, behind cabinetry and into the lower level of our house. We spent hours cleaning up the water. I am extremely frustrated and hope that Culligan will stand behind their product. Culligan should not sell this system with such an inferior fixture. I would have purchased another system at a higher price if I knew this would happen. Since several months have passed I can't rerurn these to Amazon and now I am the owner of three inoperable Cullligan systems!
Customer Review: Filter does the job. Summary: 5 Stars
I had no trouble installing this filter. It was a replacement for an
R/O system I rented for years and the water tastes just as good. The
flow rate is good. I'm no longer wasting the water that the R/O system
flushed down the drain. There is much more space available under the sink
now.
Customer Review: Filtered water Summary: 4 Stars
I just recently bought this product, so I can not give it any long term evaluation. The installation was not difficult. All parts necessary were included with the filter assembly. Instructions were pretty easy to follow.I don't feel you need to run the water for 10 minutes after the filter installation. I think that is excessive. I feel running it till the water runs clear is enough. The water tastes good. The one thing that really doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere, is the battery in the faucet. Nothing tells me how it works or what kind of indication I get when the filter needs replacing. I guess I will just have to wait to find out what it will do. Overall, I think it is a good value for the money. I wish the faucet that it came with wasn't plastic. I will see about updating this review in about 6 Months.
Customer Review: Flooded my kitchen Summary: 2 Stars
After 11 months of service the plastic stem of the faucet broke and flooded my kitchen cabinet and the basement wall. I have yet to see the warranty response, however I highly recommend a Watts Premier Chrome Non Air-Gap Faucet to install from the start. Otherwise, filters are cheap, the water quality is good. But Culligan going for a one or two dollar saving using plastic faucet part under strain vs. the liability of flooding a house demonstrates very bad judgment from Culligan.
