Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level-4 Under-Sink Drinking Water SystemCustomer Review: Great system, easy to install Summary: 5 Stars
This system I purchased about 3 months ago. It works great and I am very pleased with the quality of the water. I live in NYC and this filter is like night and day with the city water. I paired it with the watts standard faucet due to other peoples recommendation and haven't had any problems with leaks or things breaking. I took about 45 minutes to install. It's replaced our Brita and takes only a few seconds to fill up a glass. It takes about on minute to fill up a gallon to keep in the fridge. I would suggest it to anyone who has a little bit of skills with tools and some minor home improvement experience.
Customer Review: Great tasting water and affordable Summary: 4 Stars
The Culligan 2650 was easy to install; I installed it within 20 minutes, provided the hole on my sink was already there for the faucet. The instructions walked me through everything, even have detailed instructions via pictures for the lazy reader. Comes with an ergonomic long reach faucet. The new design on the lead free faucet looks almost like the ones they have in Lowe's for $50. Filter unit warnes user with audible beeps and LED lights to indicate when filter needs changing (uses a 9V battery, included). So far, this is the only unit that I know that removes MTBE's, VOC's, and more at a low cost of $32 per filter cartridge replacement set (500 gallon filter life, Pentek brand name at filterpros.com). I avoided Lowe's and Home Depot water filters b/c they use proprietary filters, forcing consumer to buy expensive filter cartridges. All other pressure fed water filters I know use $40+ filter cartridges (i.e. Aquasana). I switched to the under sink filter b/c my Pur faucet head filter keeps leaking, and I got sick of replacing them after the third time. I get filtered water at less than $0.07/gal, and I get great tasting water in an instant; it fits my needs perfectly.
Customer Review: Great tasting water, BUT LEAKS FROM THE NIPPLES! Summary: 1 Stars
Update:
The Culligan is leaking .5 gallon of water everyday. For now we have been using a baking pan under the water filter to keep it from leaking all over the cabinets (until we find a replacement). THIS IS A DISASTER! And I tried to call Culligan- the first time I left a message- no callback from technical support. Second time I called, kept me holding, then asked me to leave a message again, without speaking with anyone. BUYER BEWARE!
It is exactly as the title states.
We installed it in Dec 09, didn't even use any of it in the winter time as we boiled water cause it was so cold... started using it all the time in May-August 2010, and we just checked it (today is Aug 6)and the undersink cabinet had water all over.
It seems that the o rings on the nipples don't do anything. I'm assuming that whenever you turn on the faucet and it activates, the water that is pumping up, spills out of the nipples as well.
It's too bad because the water tastes great and following earlier users' advice, we had purchased the Watts 116023 Standard Faucet, Chrome from Amazon and it worked wonderfully- no frills. We called the Culligan headquarters but- surprise!, no one picked up, I left a message and we will know soon if they can do anything, though I doubt it- it's been a year. Anyone have a better recommendation for undersink water filtration????
Customer Review: Great tasting, convenient, but slow flowing Summary: 4 Stars
This is a really nice product. The water tastes great after being filtered through this system. We have extremely hard water where we live and after being filtered through this system, the water tastes better than any bottled water you'll find. We also hated the large units that attach to the faucet and this unit is very much less obtrusive and looks fancy by having a dedicated drinking faucet.
My only complaint would be how slow the water comes out of this unit. I would say it takes about 15 seconds to fill a glass of water. Now that's not long enough to be a complete nuisance, but just long enough to be a little annoying. Overall though, I'm happy with the unit, though if buying again, I might consider a unit that just filters all of the water coming from my main faucet.
Customer Review: Great value Summary: 5 Stars
We replaced bottled water service for our house with this Culligan water system. It took about 2 hours to install (we had to drill an extra hole in our sink), but ever since it's been installed, we've had nothing but good experiences with it. After reading some of the other reviews, I figured we'd want to replace the top eventually, but it looks much better than I expected. My only nitpick is that the water flow is a bit slow, but not enough for me to dock the system a star. It's saved us over $200 in the first 8 months we've had it.
