Tools and Hardware Reviews of D-Con 00027 Ultra Set Covered Snap Mouse TrapCustomer Review: Great Trap! Summary: 5 Stars
When I started seeing mice, I first bought the electronic trap Victor M2524 Electronic Mouse Trap, but that didn't do anything but act as a mouse feeding station.
I decided to give this a try and it worked the first night I set it up.
I put a tiny piece of peanut butter in the trap. I do find it a bit tricky to get the trap to stay cocked, but after that it works like a charm.
I keep a set of paper lunch bags in the basement. It's simple to tilt the trap, open the lid and release the mouse right into the bag without looking at it. Then it's off to the garbage for the mouse.
I must have a lot of mice - I've caught six so far.

If you have a mouse problem, these traps are the way to go. I tried using peppermint oil & steel wool & the ultrasonic device -- none of them work. But, because I'm a girl, I didn't want to have to deal with dead mice bodies. Push finally came to shove and I got a variety of traps: the old fashioned Victor traps don't work with my smart city mice, they just move them out of the way (no joke!). But, the first night that I put this d-CON covered trap down, I caught one. So gross, you still see the tail of the mouse but still, it's better than the droppings! I use mine as disposable traps because I can't stomach emptying them but they're worth every penny. They're also great if you need to use them on countertops or in cabinets.
Customer Review: Great Trap. Best Bait Is....... Summary: 5 Stars
Mice started early and prolific this year and we were having zero success with live and standard snap traps. Our ability to effectively place snap traps these days is limited by young, inquisitive small dogs and the mice were easily avoiding them. The traps anyway, the dogs caught a couple. So, we bought four of these enclosed traps out of desperation. So far, nine mice down in just three days. Two traps along the wall on mouse path from a baseboard radiator to our Pomeranians' kibble bowls that they'd been regularly raiding have picked off four. One trap in the pantry right next to dog food storage got two more. Fourth trap way down the hall next to the washing machine has taken out three, one every morning. We think that must be the route they use to get out of the house to party at night and come back in the morning with a fatal case of the munchies.
The bait. Well, with no peanut butter in the house, no inclination to go get any, and the mice's demonstrated addiction to our dogs' premium kibble (Natura Innova) we decided to just try baiting the traps with that...dog food. Amazingly sucessful.
These traps seem to be sturdy enough for some reasonable level of repeated use. One is showing some difficulty in resetting after catching three mice, but hey...it's done it's job nicely. First four purchased from Amazon. But, picked up four more at Lowe's today since I was there anyway and they were only about four bucks each.
We live in Colorado with a lot of surrounding open space that make field mice a routine, annual problem. But I think we just might run out of them early this season.
Customer Review: Great mouse trap Summary: 5 Stars
If you hate setting mouse traps as bad as I do then you will love this mouse trap. Just bait it and push down the lever and "VOILA" it is set and ready to catch mice. I don't like touching mice to remove them and this mouse trap solves that issue to. You don't have to look at the caught mouse or touch them just take the mouse trap to where you want to discard your catch and push down the lever....ALL DONE!!! Great concept...great trap!
Customer Review: Great product for it's purpose Summary: 5 Stars
I tried so many brands and wasted so much money on the "live" traps to curb my little visitors but after awhile they just procreate too fast and when you live in a suburban area it's a struggle. My biggest issue was getting something that "shielded" me from the gory details (yes, I know there are many activists up in arms) and this is a small, very effective trap. My advice would be to make sure and put a "sticky" bait on (peanut butter) verus cheese because there is a small opening in the back (that is needed to set the spring) where they can actually pull the cheese off and not go in the front of the trap.
