Tools and Hardware Reviews of DELTA 34-183 Tenoning Jig

Customer Review: DELTA 34-183 IS NOT WORTH IT
Summary: 2 Stars

The base plate of the jig rubbed againt the surface of table saw result in black mark which smear all over your wood. The scale on the jig is very crude. You better off with a homade jig which is cheaper and more accurate.

Customer Review: Dancing the jig
Summary: 4 Stars

I spent 5 months researching this jig (I own a Craftsman table saw) and finally decided to purchase. Fully expecting to take grinder in hand and abuse the miter bar, imagine my suprise when everything fit perfectly out of the box with the obvious exception of the required change from a right tilt to a left tilt saw. Craftsman owners...this jig will fit SOME models of Craftsman saws. Everyone should expect to spend at least one hour disassembling the jig to clean off the anti-rust goo. I have been very impressed with the weight and accuracy of the jig and my only suggestion to Craftsman owners is "You pay your nickle and takes your chance".

Customer Review: Delta -183 gets a bad rap
Summary: 5 Stars

I read the reviews and like some I was rather timid about my purchase. Grease was an issue but not a big deal. It fit my craftsman table like a glove. I didn't have a problem with parts, sanding, grinding, etc. etc. Easy to set up (after cleaning) works like a top. Very solid.

Customer Review: Delta 34-183 Tenoning Jig-Worth the money
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this jig in November and have used it quite a bit before writing this review. At first I was apprehensive about purchasing the jig because of some of the reviews that I read. After receiving it all of my concerns have been put to bed.
It did come packed in grease but I was ready for it and would rather put up with the grease than have a rusty casting. I had to disassemble the jig and reassemble because I have a Left Tilt Unisaw. The directions were clear and I had no trouble at all making the change over.
I had no problems getting a nice square, parallel to the blade, cut when running my first scrap piece through the saw. Adjustments were easy to make and easy to repeat. The knob to make fine adjustments works great and is easy to use.
I enjoy using this jig. It is exactly what I was looking for and I haven't been disappointed with it. The only things I would like to see changed would be the scale-its not to accurate and I am not over fond of the plastic handles and lockdowns. Other than these two items, I think the jig is a great addition to my shop

Customer Review: Delta 34-83 NOT a Universal jig
Summary: 2 Stars

I've just been informed by an ebay lister that this model Delta 34-183 is not a universal jig:

"Delta type saws where the blade axis is 4 1/4" to 4 3/8" from the inside of the left miter slot. If your saw varies (like a Powermatic 66) significantly from this, you should consider another jig or that this one would have to be modified at your expense. This is not a One-Size-Fits all type of Jig."

Considering the number of reviews I've read through the past couple days, no one mentioned this little factoid and a couple reviewers had the same brand saw as mine. Hope this helps someone out there!
