Yes, we already own a DeWalt 621 plunge router. It is mounted in a router table. Now we are looking at the DW618B3 at the local building supply and Amazon.com. Why does a person need two routers you might ask? On extremely large pieces, the router table, is useless. For instance, cutting dados for shelves in plywood, or creating multiple round nose slots for pilisters can not be completed on a router table. One could remove and re-install the DeWalt router in the table but much time would be required. So Dewalt, now that you have designed and built the best router, then I shall soon have two of them. The new one, with the three base configuation, is just beautiful and versatile. Dewalt, please try to keep your hood on and in one piece please=Kansas NASCAR. My wife loves NASCAR and I love your tools: Table saw, Framing saw, Jig saw, and Plate joiner, and soon to be a #2 Router.

I just wan't to warn anyone who sees this tool in the "Tool Crib" catalog and comes here to buy it. Tool Crib (An Amazon company) will give you a free set of bits when you buy the kit, and the catalog says to go to "amazon.com\dewalt" to order as well as by phone. Amazon even shows the same bit set in their picture, but doesn't offer this deal. I'm a new router owner and don't own any of my own bits yet, so I figured this free bit set would be good to trash while I learn more about using a router. So off to the store to get bits for my new machine.....Customer Review: Excellent Router

I bought this combo about 2 years ago. I have the router motor mounted in a quik lift from woodpecker most of the time, but occasionally use by hand and it's really nice having the option of the grips. Plunge is my most used grip.
I've used it for edging and for raised panels using a vertical bit (panel is verticle instead of flat to the table). I've had no issues at all and found this be very good compared to to a PC and much better value if you ask me. PC is the name and are great, but they know it so they charge a premium. I thought this was a good compromise. I have access to the Humber College night school shop (Toronto, Ontario, Canada and and excellent program) and we use PCs there and I don't notice any difference. I'm not a professional so I don't put it through a lot of hours of continuous use, but it certainly does the job for me and has held up without wear.
Very happy with it and have recommended to many friends. The carry case is a nice have. Also, I've used the variable speed to deal with White Oak and Cherry versus Mahogany and poplar and pine. I like the detachable power cord and the location of the power switch.

I've had this router for about 6 months now and can't say enough good things about it. The smooth start, the quiet operation, the power....all make it worth the money. Having all three bases is awesome, as well. I allows me to dedicate one to the router table for quick changes. The D-handle provides great control and the plunge base is smooth. I would recommend getting the edge guide for this item, as well. It will round out a great package.
