Customer Review: DMT Confirms it is 8000 Mesh
Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good stone for putting a polish on your blade's cutting edge. This is the final step in sharpening a blade that you want to put a razor's edge on. This stone, by itself, won't do much on a dull blade. You must use coarser stones first. I purchased this in addition to the DMT Deluxe Aligner. I also purchased an extra coarse stone, so I have a total of five stones to sharpen with. (This stone is probably the least important of the stones.)
There is a discrepancy on the packaging with regards to the grit of this stone. The packaging says this is a 2200 mesh stone. This is inconsistent with DMT's literature and web site which state that white is 2200 mesh, and tan is 8000 mesh. So I emailed DMT. Here is what they said:
"The web sites are correct. The tan is 8000 mesh. On the packaging the color was changed from white (ceramic) to tan, but the mesh was not changed by oversight. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Thank you for choosing DMT products. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Have a great day!
