This is not for basic sharpening, it is too fine for that task. But once you have put an edge to a blade this polishes it to razor sharpness. This used after the more general DMT coarse/fine sharpener DMT FWFC Double Sided Diafold Sharpener Fine / Coarse will make your knives ready to shave your face. Hint: Fold a piece of paper twice from the corner (like a paper airplane, 90,45,22.5 degrees) to get the correct 22 1/5 degree sharpening angle for your knives.
