I've used these stones before, and they work so well I finally decided to buy one. Like most stones they are a bit expensive, but there isn't anything that will substitute. I bought the fine grit, but will likely buy the medium and coarse some day. Just not today. One at a time makes the "bite" not as hard on the pocket book as buying all three at one time.

Fine monocrystalline diamond particles are permanently fixed to a flat plastic base in a unique screen pattern.
