Color-coded for quick reference, the blue-dotted side of the 8-by-3/8-by-2-5/8 stone features a coarse, 325-grit (45 micron) surface, while the red-dotted side features a finer 600 grit (25 micron). The coarse side restores dull or damaged edges, while the fine side, used regularly, keeps an edge razor-sharp. DMT makes a stand for the whetstone (sold separately) and will replace free of charge any product found to be defective. --Ann Bieri

Use the coarse diamond stone (45 micron / 325 mesh) to quickly and easily restore a neglected edge, or take advantage of the fine diamond stone (25 micron / 600 mesh) to get that razor sharp edge. Simply place the DuoSharp Bench Stone on any flat surface, and its non-skid rubber mat will keep it firmly planted during sharpening.
