OK, it does remove moisture from the air, but not so you'd notice in a room of any size. Removing a 1/8 cup of water a day really doesn't make any difference during Arizona's monsoon season. However the main problem was; after successfully using 2 bags of absorbent we forgot to check the water level on the third bag. Apparently the water touched the bag which turned the water into a solid and spread a gelatinous mess all over the top of the wooden dresser it was placed on. This goo was hard to remove and would have no doubt damaged the surface if it wasn't removed quickly.
