Customer Review: A Poor Choice

This unit was purchased because of a good review in consumer reports for a Canadian product. Unfortunately that product was not for sale in the USA. When I called Danby directly I was told that the model I ultimately purchased was the same as the Canadian product only produced for the US market.
My problem with this unit is that it NEVER shuts off even when the set point is reached. When I checked this out with Danby again, I was told that it was a design factor so energy costs were reduced. Frankly, this is technically unlikely but even if it were, the significant noise made by the unit makes it highly undesirable for bedroom use and in fact contradicts the claim that it is a particularly QUIET unit -- clearly it is not.
I am VERY unhappy with this purchase decision Both Amazon and Danby ought to take this unit back and remove it from the market
