Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dap 18324 Seal 'N Peel Removable Caulk, 10.1-OunceCustomer Review: Favorite removable sealer Summary: 4 Stars
I live in Buffalo and own an uninsulated big house built in the 1880's with 87 inch tall drafty wood windows. The plastic sheet kits don't fit and I need a product that can seal the windows quickly for the winter. Last year the big box stores stopped carrying this brand and I tried another. It was like I hot-glued my windows shut! I had to pry it off with sharp tools. The Dap brand pulls right off easily. It dries to a consistancy like the glue dots that seal up envelopes. Like everyone says, it has a strong odor for about 24 hours (smells like plastic model cement). Use it on a warm autumn day so you can leave a door open while it dries.
Customer Review: Glue of 1st Choice Summary: 5 Stars
The unique properties of this crystal clear adhesive caulk has made it my first choice for home repairs of all kinds from wall tile to book bindings. Used properly it has extreme holding power for something you can subsequently remove without a trace. It is as waterproof as adhesive gets and excess and spillage are removable in seconds once dry so you don't even have to be careful about not getting any on unwanted surfaces of the work pieces or work area.
Customer Review: Goes on, Stays on, Peels Off Summary: 5 Stars
Great stuff. Easy to work with. Does what it says.
Customer Review: Great Seasonal Fix For Drafts Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great product to stop drafts yet it still lets you open your windows when warm weather returns.
My condo faces a lakeshore and whenever the wind would get up over 20 mph, the windows would howl like something from an old horror movie. Our condo complex will be replacing these windows in the next year or two so, until then, this has proven a great way to stop the drafts and noise while still allowing me to easily remove the product in the summer so I can open the windows.
The only downside to Seal 'n Peel is the odor when you first apply it. It's much like airplane glue. Apply the product on the outside if you can. If not, do it on a day when you can leave a couple of doors open for most of the day.
Shipping from BIC was fast. My order arrived in three days.
Customer Review: Great but watch out for fumes Summary: 4 Stars
I live in an apartment where the windows and doorwall leak terribly. Stapling plastic to the window trim is not a viable option because the apartment owner will charge me for having to replace or fix the window trim. I put this around the window and doorwall last night to seal the leaks. I immediately felt a difference in the temperature of the room and no more drafts. And it peels off and cleans up very easily. The only thing you have to be careful of is the fumes it leaves behind. I suggest you start with the biggest windows and leave the others open to air out the fumes as you seal up the remaining windows. Try to leave the window closest to a door last.
