I received this item cracked down the side and the shipping box was in tact so I'm inclined to believe it was shipped this way. Ace Hardware was difficult to reach, had to make several attempts just to get contact and several actual contacts to get the return set up.
At the time, it was returned, I requested full refund as I had no confidence that a 2nd item would receive good service.

This has been a good heater so far with a few little things I wanted to mention. 1st the door did not open but maybe that is this paricular makes feature, 2nd the light bulb burned out on the second night I used it - could anyone share how long their light bulb lasted? (also it is rather time consuming to unscrew 5 screws to replace it, 20w) My final complaint is that it does not have a setting that will automatically make it go on and off and on again.
I am compairing this with a faux fireplace I got second hand for $10.00 at a garage sale. I later found out was from 1972 but it still worked and had that feature of heat control. But it does cost a small fortune to run so the final test will be in the electric bill.
I will say on the + side it heats up a room very quickly and is very cute. I love having that cheery little fire light going for a night light. Don't even bother with those space oil heaters anymore - one of these will do the job of three of those and to me this seems much safer (take it from someone who got shocked last winter!)
So overall, good to great heater, could be better.

I bought this heater to balance out heat zones in my 3 level home. I had another popular heater that failed me in 4 months of use. This little heater does eeveryting I wanted and more for a third of the price. Love it!Customer Review: Beware of returns..but so far its been ok..

We received this heater..It came right on and the light inside of it makes it look really nice like a real fire.It worked four hours and then we turned it off.Its good for a small bedroom
area..as far as heat.It has a real quiet heater..that blows from underneath .. and pretty warm close up..But beware of turning the unit on with the unplugging and plugging and be careful of
the bulb in the rear compartment.These bulbs maybe damaged in transit..they are the candle type bulbs that always blow so easy.Getting back to our experience..woke the next day and the heater worked but the bulb did not..We contacted the seller here and the first thing that pops up is that they do not pay shipping for returns nor will they return your money if its not the manufactures fault and really according to their returns it looks like they want out of it all together..So before you buy READ the return policy..Ok..we figured out how to open the back and the light bulb was broken.I had to take a pair of needle nose pliers and finally managed to ease out the remainder of the bulb.We went to the hardware and bought a two pack of bulbs.. and it worked again..
Over all its fine for beauty not very good for dependable heat..but beautiful yes..I immediately wrote the company and told them not to worry about refunding the money or what I had written before..Today four days after original message was sent they sent me an email saying they were not even sure what heater I was talking about although I contacted them directly from amazon.. also they sent me a long letter about return policy..Its like they aren't even sure of who I was ..To tell you the truth it doesn't make me want to buy anything else from them.I kind of wanted another one of these for the bedroom but im thinking of seeing if I can just buy from the company that makes them.This seller doesn't seem to have it together on anything and doesn't seem like they are very return friendly.. So I give them a minus 5 stars for working with the customer and the stove a 3 star for being just about that. A three star product.. good enough to buy two but not from this seller. .and well we have had it less than a week now and worried that its going to be one of those 100.00 plus shipping follies..If so..I learned my lesson but no more buys from this seller.. As I said..its kind a cool heater.. for looks.. for heat... hmmmm probably need a better heater if you are cold.. but if you have a date that you want to sit around a fire..then it might work out for you. Customer Review: Beware! Watch the cord!

We received this item as a gift from our son for the holidays. Has worked decently for the past month, keeping the living room warm, but as noted with another customer, the electral cord just started to melt and has done damage to the electrical wall outlet. The cord was always a little warm when we unplugged it, but we just thought that was normal. Now that it has actually scortched the outlet and the plug itself has melted, I'm not planning on using it again.
A little extra comfort is not worth burning the house down for.
