Customer Review: Beware!

I only had the heater for three months when it quit working and wouldn't give off heat...right during the dead of winter when we needed it! I did absolutely nothing to it but use it! To make matters worse, I've been trying to get in contact with the company for five days and left call back numbers and messages about the situation. No one answered and no call has been returned. I paid extra to get the thermostat to begin with, which never really was a real thermostat since it didn't have real temp control with digits to set it on. Next, it broke within three months and there is no customer service though it wouldn't heat at all....for the cost of $150! I had to give it a one or it would have gotten a zero.
(2 weeks later) I finally got through to customer service and they told me that the labor isn't under warranty...just the part. So, they sent me the part according to what I told them along with an instructional manual for putting it together. I literally had to take the whole thing apart and couldn't install the part as there were dozens of wires that couldn't be removed, etc. It would take an electrician. I just lost $150.00 and there isn't anything I can do about it!

After receiving 2 months electric bills totaling $800, I bought
this nifty compact stove (on sale). It looks great, throws out
lost of heat (but not from the "fire" which is cold). It makes me
want to toast marshmallows, but that does not work. The only
problem is that our heat pump won't come on unless we turn
the thermostat way up, because the room gets so warm.
Recommended for supplementary heat in the deep South.

I bought the more expensive model after purchasing the smaller unit and
I am very pleased with both. This unit has a nicer log arrangement and the
door swings open (you must resist the urge to place another log on or stick a marshmallow in the flames)! The remote control is a nice addition. The
psychological effect of viewing a fire makes you feel warmer even before
turning on the heat. I replaced the 2 60-watt bulbs with 7-watt night lights and see no difference in the flame effect. Within minutes of turning on the heat, my bedroom is nice and toasty! I love the fact that no surface gets hot..my cats even sit on it. The heat blows out from the bottom and warms the entire room quickly! I love it!

The stove out of the box worked flawless but I was disappointed for the amount of heat and the force of the fan. I bought to set in front of the fireplace in a drafty trailer but quickly found out that it couldn't compete with South Dakota in a trailer. Instead of sending it back it now has a nice home in a small guest room in the trailer. It effectively heats a room of about 200 sq ft but don't ask it to do much more when the temps frequently hit zilch below. It is very well constructed, quite attractive, and the fire effect is somewhat realistic, but a little dim. I replaced the 25W bulbs w/some 40's and the brightened up the glow a little. Overall it is a cool little product, but if you can afford a little more I'd go for the next couple BTU's up. Despite my review, my dog Buster gives it 5 stars!
