Customer Review: Defective product I can do, poor customer service I can't

I bought this book case online about 2 and a half weeks ago just after I moved into my new place. I had already been into an actual store to see what it actually looked like, so I knew and was content with what I was ordering. I chose to order it online, because I don't drive and they offered free shipping online. So I got the product in great time, not a problem. But when I opened it, I realized that the grooves were not in line with the shelves each other and I thus the shelves were defective. So, I printed out the return recipt online, and made arrangements with a friend to drive to me target to return the item. I had all the proper paperwork, original packaging and my id. When I got to customer service, the clerk told me that it wasn't ringing up. I said that's weird cuz I just bought it two weeks ago, and I know that you have it on your shelves. So she got her manager and he came. He said that the case was now on clearance for 12.99 and that's what he could give it to me for. ....I repeated that I am a regular target shopper and I KNOW that it's on their shelves, and I'm surprized to hear that it's on sale. So he called whoever he had to call to get permission to return it at the price that I paid for it and that took forever but hey, the issue was resolved. He gave me a reciept and told me to go get whatever I wanted to exchange it for and come back with just that reciept. So I did, and when I came back I had to go through the same process with another clerk. I mentioned that this second questioning was a bit redundant seeing that I had the slip that the first guy had given me but this new guy got smart alecky. All in all it was a trip. By the by, while I was shopping for my other items, I stopped by the furniture section and sure enough my item was there for the price that I had originally purchased it for. So I mentioned it to the manager when I got back to Customer service, and he says, "yeah, well the computer said that it's on clearance" then he shoved the scanner in my face to show me.
I'm writing this review to say that it's sad that although the floor staff of the Buckhead Target in Atlanta, GA is great, the Customer service department of all places lacks the proper customer service skills that they out of all the employees in the store should have. The thing is, I work in retail too, so I know how it is to have difficult customers. I wasn't however a difficult customer, I remained calm, and polite....Sigh, I'll still shop at Target though cuz those bad apples have only slightly tainted the bunch.

I've had this product for a while and it is just fine. The only thing that disappointed me is that I surveyed the measurements before buying and while they are correct, the bookcase doesn't seem as imposing as I had imagined. Either way, it's loaded with lots of textbooks and a lamp and it's shown no signs of weakness anywhere....
P.S. It also folds which may be good for travelers....

Dolce 4 shelf folding bookcase-I really like this bookcase. It is different than other folding bookcases as it has a deep bottom shelf and a narrower top shelf. Still supports books but is not stackable (which I didn't want). It is solid and very easy to set up. It comes well packaged. I love this bookcase!
It took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to set it up. They are strong, solid wood and with the extra slats in the back and the sides it hold books well. If and when I move they will fold up flat and be good to go!
I recommend the dolce book case for anyone.
