Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dorcy 41-4297 160 Lumen LED Aluminum Flashlight with Batteries and Built-In Battery IndicatorCustomer Review: Smaller than I expected Summary: 5 Stars
It is smaller than a traditional flashlight. Being so small it fits easily in a small pocket of my back pack. Of course I'd rather have a bigger and brighter one.
Customer Review: Super Bright Summary: 5 Stars
I have a different model of Dorcy flashlight and I am happy with it. However, I wanted another flashlight so I decided on this model. The other one is small and very bright. However, this model is super bright and still keeps a small lightweight design.
I have not had any of the problems other reviewers have mentioned. The batteries were easy to install and the cap part screwed on easily. I have had my other Dorcy for several months. They both use 3 AAA batteries and about the same size. With moderate use I still have not had to replace the batteries in my older flashlight. I would assume the batteries in this current model will last just as long.
If you want a reasonably priced, small but bright flashlight, then I highly recommend this one.
Customer Review: This is one bright light! Summary: 3 Stars
Beyond that, not much to recommend it. A little too dinky for my likes. Uninspired design. Craftsmanship is not what I'd expect for a $35 flashlight! Looks and feels like any number of $10 flashlights that I own. The battery strength indicator is a plastic contraption that is more gimmick than anything else. Adds to the cheap look and feel of the whole thing. One need only look at the beam to see if the batteries are running down -- and one thing is for certain -- 3 AAA batteries are not going to keep a 6 watt light running for very long. Carry spares. I appreciate the fact that the manufacturer designed the light to use cheap alkalines or rechargeables rather than expensive lithiums, otherwise it would quickly become too expensive to operate for your average non-rich person like me. Bottom line: It's a Dorcy -- a perrenial bargain basement incandescent flashlight manufacturer that has wisely decided to take advantage of the l.e.d. phenomenon to try and improve their image and compete with the big boys. They've obviously got a ways to go, but I give them a "B" for effort and an "A" for being opportunistic. If Dorcy plays their cards right, they could very well go from wannabe status to gottahave status in relatively short order.
Customer Review: This light has durability issues Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased several of these for myself and friends. The beam is very bright for this price range. There is a problem with the internal batttery housing which seems to be very fragile. 3 out of 4 broke suddenly and unexpectedly.
Customer Review: VERY BRIGHT flashlight Summary: 4 Stars
This a great little light for the money. It is a little cheesy with the battery holder that takes AAA batteries. You can't expect too much for what you pay for such a bright light. The Lumin output is better that anything I could find in this price range.
