The draw to me is a rechargeable flashlight that:
1. Will last until I get my money's worth.
2. Will not leave me in the dark unexpectedly.
3. Satisfies my urge for fun toys.
This flashlight nearly completes all of those goals. The LED's can last a very long time. The solar cell can charge the battery for years to come. You don't need access to a battery store or mains power to charge it. If you are caught needing light more than was stored in daylight, you just crank it a while. You needn't crank it generally, so the crank won't wear out for a long time. It falls short in that it has a (replaceable) lithium ion battery with only about a four or five year fixed life.
