Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dremel 3956-02 MultiPro Super 1.15 Amp 5,000 to 35,000 RPM Variable Speed Rotary Tool with 77 AccessoriesCustomer Review: Great product, just a minor complaint Summary: 4 Stars
I love the Dremel. Works like a charm including the flex shaft. Make sure you read the directions on how to use the flex shaft, specifically the proper operation. The dremel motor should be held (or hung) above the business end of the flex shaft for proper usage and safety.
My only complaint- minor- the accessories are all lumped together in bags with no labels. You have to go through the manual and match the pictures with the accessory and sometimes with ambiguity. I eventually figured it out and used a label maker to make things better. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. It gets 5 for performance and 4 for packaging.
Customer Review: Great tool with tons of accessories Summary: 5 Stars
I love my new Dremel and it came with lots of accessories. Wish it had a grinder bit. Still trying to find out all the great uses for it!
Customer Review: Great tool! Summary: 4 Stars
This Dremel tool is awesome! It was difficult to initially attach the attachments and extension tool from the instructions, but now that it is finally figured out it is easy.
Customer Review: Great versatility Summary: 4 Stars
This tool has great versatility and performance. I was able to do tasks I used to do with high priced pneumatic tools, as a tool & die maker. My only concern is that I felt it should have lasted a little longer than it did, before the bearings gave out. I did work it hard though!!
Customer Review: Handy, durable, realize it is hobby grade Summary: 4 Stars
I have one of these kits and a much older Dremel that must be going on 20 years old now. I use them for model train work. These are really handy, light-weight, flexible, versatile tools. This new one has much better
speed control and much better power at low speed than my old one did.
People should realize that these things really are hobby tools. I know Dremel does commercials showing people cutting off nails and fixing up things around the house, and these tools can certainly do that, but don't expect them to hold up like a contractor-grade power drill if you use them that way. It's not built for that.
Where these really excel is for hobby work - model trains, jewelry-making, all sorts of crafts, doll houses, model making, that sort of thing.
The carry case on this model has compartments, but they are kind of
clumsy for holding all the attachments. The speed control slider is also a little clumsy. When I want it on a low speed, I often push it past where I want it because it's a bit too hard to push. So I overshoot and it runs too fast, and then I have to back it off. But this really is a minor point, and it happens less and less as I get used to it. For these reasons, I only rated it a 4. But the assortment of cutters, grinders, and sanders that it comes with are very useful, not just cheap "fluff" to fill up the box. They are a good breadth of Dremel's attachment pieces.
The flexible shaft is a nice touch.
Overall, for $75, a heck of a handy, nice tool to have around.
