I haven't bought any of the gadgets yet, but will probably buy this one. After reading the reviews and visiting the websites of pedicure and pedipaws I have come to a wise conclusion I'd like to pass on: Most people don't seem to think much of those two gadgets but most people pretty much like the dremel. The VERY best recommendation----buy the dremel but go to the pedicure website!!!! The videos on how to use these nail sanders and especially on how to prepare your pet before using the gadget are GREAT!!! VERY informative and if you buy the dremel but follow pedicure's directions/videos I bet you AND your dog will be much happier. (I could be wrong but I have the feeling that those folks whose dogs hate the dremel did not take the time to properly get their dog accustomed to it BEFORE actually using the gadget on their dog's nails.)Customer Review: Almost perfect!

I love this product. It's perfect for doing my (great big chicken) dog's nails! There's no cord, it runs on AA batteries and it's quiet so he's not afraid of the noise.
I say it's almost perfect because it only comes with a 1/4" sanding drum. The 1/4" may be fine for a little dog or a small puppy, but it took way too long to do my 55lb dog's big nails.
So buy the product and make sure you have a 1/2" drum available and grind away. It leaves the nails smooth and doesn't hurt the dog like a clipper does.

I've got Shiba Inu's, and they've got a mind of their own. They do not like their nails cut at all.
This makes it alot easier to cut their nails..the key is to work fast and not dilly-dally when working their nails. If you can have 1 person holding a flashlight and stabilizing the dog while you work each paw, you will get the hang of it fast. Do HEED the warnings to not spend too much time on a given nail as you will burn them. Just keep moving from nail to nail and go back to the first one, so that there is time to cool down.
The battery life is pretty horid, but make sure you disengage the battery pack each time you are done, as it seems to continually drain when you leave it attached even though its off.

When I was looking for Dremel tools on Amazon the model I was looking for referenced "only 1 in stock, more on order, order now." The item arrived with the tamper-proof plastic cover/packaging compromised, all accessories missing, with deep scratches in cover of unit. Originally I believed Amazon had a thief in their warehouse operations. I called Dremel directly, brought them on board with above scenario, and they suggested the following: "This was probably a return to Amazon & they failed to follow their standard operating procedures by RETURNING ALL RETURNED PRODUCTS TO MANUFACTURER OF PRODUCT FOR REPAIR OR REBUILD." I ended up with a used damaged product with parts missing because some hourly employee at Amazon failed to follow their own standard procedures for returning all "returned" products to the manufacturer. AMAZON, YOU ARE NO.1 IN MY BOOK...not!! I think Amazon needs to revisit this compliant so other customers do not have to deal with a issue with so low of a monetary value. I think the product cost less than twelve bucks. Hence, Amazon not only screwed me but also the manufacturer-DREMEL-. Dremel C.S. had to deal with the problem by sending parts that were missing. To return the whole product to Amazon that cost so little, even though it was scratched up & missing parts was not worth the effort and time. Dremel is known for the quality of their products & CS. I find this to be a major blunder by amazon.com & feel like I have been porked by them!!!

After years of fighting with our two mini doxies this product has been a true find. It's small, easy to use and fairly quiet. And, not having to fight a cord is fantastic! Within a week I had both dogs' nails back to normal with much less mess, fuss and trauma to them and myself. Now they don't even look twice when they see me set up to do their nails.
