I purchased the Dremel 8000-01 March 2007 and used it with the Dremel 1453 chain saw sharpening attachment to sharpen my chain saw. It worked just fine and did an OK job on my saw chains. I recharged the battery and stored it in the case. Last month (Nov 2007) I took the tool out to do a few small jobs. The tool was dead. I checked the battery (with a volt meter) and it was dead. I recharged the battery several hours and it still read zero volts. I knew the battery was defective so I called the customer service dept of Dremel to check on warranty service, I thought the tool was under a 2 year warranty. I was told I had no warranty and that a new replacement battery would be $45.40 (They are available on Amazon for $39.00). The Dremel 8000-01 tool came with 60 accessories and a carry case for $69.99 last March. I guess they could give away the tool and just sell replacement batteries and still come out. Anyway just thought you folks should know this little piece of info before deciding if you want a cordless 10.7 model...

I bought this dremel to trim my dog's nail. I was concerned it might be too powerful but it's perfect on the lowest setting. The noise level is low and doesn't bother my dog. This is a great Dremel tool. It came out of the box charged and ready to go. The lithium ion battery holds a charge very well. The motor is not overly noisey. All around good tool.
