Tools and Hardware Reviews of Duracraft DWM250 2-1/2-Gallon Warm-Mist Humidifier

Customer Review: Buy NEW, received OPEN BOX
Summary: 3 Stars

The product works well after using it for one night. However, I can only give it 3 stars because Amazon sent me the open box. The tape sealed the box was cut off and replace with another tape with a different color. There is no bag covering the product as you can see the manufacture includes it when they pack their product.

I am not going to ask to return because of this. But I am not happy either.

Customer Review: Capacity approximately 3/4 gallon
Summary: 3 Stars

As someone else stated, the title is definitely deceiving. This is a tiny unit. I'm keeping it for now because I have a small room and only run the unit over night.

Customer Review: Capacity is mis-advertised
Summary: 1 Stars

First of all, this is definitely not a 2.5 gallon tank. It holds roughly half a gallon of water. It does not hold enough water to run overnight on "high".

One other quibble is about the design -- that the button to there is both a knob for high/low/off settings, AND a button to press to start things off. Plugging it in a setting it to high is not enough -- you have to press the button as well. To make matters worse sometimes all that doesn't quite work (maybe the tank is not sitting just right?) -- and you can't find out since it takes several minutes to start anyway. So you have to do everything and check back a few minutes later whether it started.

Finally, the periodic glug-glug sound is a bit on the loud side. A continuous or more frequent trickle might have been quieter...

Customer Review: Damaged my wall
Summary: 2 Stars

This was my first humidifier, so I'm not sure if all of them would have the same effect, but...using this thing for a few nights caused so much condensation on my walls that it was starting to damage the paint. I returned it.

Customer Review: Deceptive capacity
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this unit to replace a very similar model (with built-in hygrometer, which never worked). That model ran for years before the start switch stopped working. I like the general design and it remains simple and effective. You do get scale build-up on the heating element, in spite of weekly cleaning, and depending on how mineralized your water is. But, this is a relatively low cost unit and a big improvement over the filter-based approach.

My complaint is with the "2.5 gallon capacity." Right. My old unit probably held 2 gallons of water. In mid-winter this meant 1 - 2 refills/24 hrs., depending on whether I used the low or high setting. This unit holds about a gallon. I'll be wearing a path to the sink. The 2.5 gallon capacity refers to the unit's ability to vaporize 2.5 gallons/day, if you care to make 2.5 trips to the sink/day.

I'd send it back but shipping would probably cost more than half what I paid for it. I'll probably end up using this unit upstairs, then buying another unit for the main floor.

File this one under misleading advertising!
