Customer Review: Great replacement for standard lightning.

Great bulbs, only a couple things bring it down to four stars for me.
1 Star deduction: they do not dim all the way on a standard dimmer and they take a while to charge, one went out quickly but all light bulbs can be easliy damaged during shipping. Another side note, although known before purchase; they provide low volume of light (Considering how much energy they use, it's not a big surprise...)
We have these in our living-room which is relatively well lit during the day and has a ceiling fan in the middle with 4four 50W equivalent CFLs. That being said, I wanted the low volume of light and the low energy cost because we don't watch TV with the lights fully on anyway, and I have the ceiling fan light for the extra light if needed. I also find the light is fine for casual conversation/entertaining at night, usually if we're doing something that requires more light it's in another room anyway.
If you want more task oriented light then you need to get a brighter white light putting out more lumens because these are not designed for that purpose. If you want casual lighting then these are perfect and I could care less how long the need to charge up, because I have other lightning options as anyone should.

I'd love to give this product a good review, but one of the bulbs stopped working within 3 months. We didn't use them for anything unusual, just lighting the family room. We dimmed them a couple of times, but mostly just had them on or off. For something this expensive, I expected them to last years under normal use, not months. A regular spotlight bulb would have worked fine, and saved me a lot of money. (Most of my other lights in the house are compact flourescent, and they seem to work fine, so I blame this specific product)Customer Review: Nice light, but have had 8 stop working within 7 months.

I bought about 20 or 30 of these bulbs to replace all the high wattage flood lights in the recessed ceiling cans all around my house. They worked amazingly (mostly). A few came and were already broke, amazon were great and sent me out a whole box to replace the one or 2 broken ones. In the past 6 months, 6-8 more have just stopped working, or started flickering. I wish they didn't, and they worked great but they have been problems.
Amazon have now sent me 2 boxes to replace the previous ones, i am now about to complain about another.
I hope you have better luck with them than me.

The packaging is great - it is nice to not have to take out scissors and risk being sliced by plastic. The bulbs worked well, as you would expect. I put them in less than two years ago and they are all starting to die. This is not the longevity promised on the package.
Because it takes them a while to get going I always set them on maximum brightness and never really used the dimness feature.
The frosting helps make the light more pleasant.
