Tools and Hardware Reviews of Electrolux Oxygen Canister Vacuum Cleaner, EL6988E

Customer Review: Disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this vacuum after doing a lot of research. I was needing to replace my Kenmore Progressive Canister, which is falling apart after 6 years of use. I did not want another Kenmore because I had trouble finding the replacement filters, both in Sears and online. The pros: the Electrolux oxygen was easy to assemble, compact, and has pretty good suction (although I only used it once). The cons: I had to give it one start for quality. The attachments (other than the motorized brush head) do not fit on securely. There are two on board attachments which kept falling off. The other attachments have no place to be stored. The cord is ridiculously short compared to my old Kenmore canister...I have a 2200 sq.ft. home and could not even vacuum my entire living room without moving the cord to another outlet!!! Also, the canister seems to have a mind of it's own...it would keep rolling when I stopped(on my wood floors) and doesn't turn very easily. The wand is adjustable which is a great feature, but mine wouldn't stay engaged in one position. Really annoying when you are trying to push it back and forth! I keep accidently pushing the controls on the hand portion of the vacuum, turning it off. I was so excited to get my new vacuum, but was extremely disappointed after using it. I am hoping it doesn't cost a fortune to send back because I'm not keeping it!

Customer Review: Do not buy an Oxygen Vacuum
Summary: 1 Stars

We purchased an Electrolux Oxygen Vacuum Cleaner because it was top rated by Consumer Reports. Ours arrived with a faulty cord reel.

We found out that Eureka had purchased Electrolux. Eureka does not pay technicians enough to perform warranty work, and all but one warranty repair center in our region (Upstate New York) declined to do warranty work on our machine. It took over 6 months to get a replacement cord reel and have it repaired. Eureka obviously does not fill repair shop orders promptly either!

Then the main circuit board, which is in the handle, shorted out, the machine would turn on but the power head did not work and the machine would not turn off. Luckily, our technician had one on hand and it was an easy repair. But -- the exact same thing happened again. Our vacuum cleaner has again been in the shop over a month now, with no repair in sight.

To rub salt in the wound: I sent Electrolux customer service an email. I got an automated response promising an answer within 3 business days. No response. So I sent a letter via USPS to Electrolux customer service. No response. It does seem that they would at least be polite enough to write back and tell me it is my own fault for purchasing a Eureka product!

I should say the cleaner worked well when it worked. However, if you purchase one and something goes wrong with it just buy a new different brand vacuum cleaner! Forget having it repaired.Electrolux EL 7020B Oxy3 Ultra Canister VacuumFactory-Refurbished Electrolux Oxygen 3 Ultra Canister Vacuum EL7020B

Customer Review: Don't Buy Electrolux's Oxygen Canister Vacuum!
Summary: 1 Stars

What a nightmare Electrolux's Oxygen canister vacuum is. Soon after we got it, the hose began spitting out junk because the light alerting you that the bag was full never went on. The entire wand was stuffed full, and it was almost impossible to get it out.

We should have known it was a lemon then. But no, we had to wait five months after our purchase for another piece to break connecting the wand to the beater. And lo, Electrolux couldn't even get a replacement part to our vendor because I guess its Chinese factory didn't have any on hand. It's been over six weeks and we still don't have the vacuum repaired, despite talking to Vanessa, Adam and Brenda of Electrolux. We demanded a refund for this lemon but all we heard from them is it is not their problem.

Well it is their problem because anyone who buys this machine is making a big mistake. Don't buy Electrolux's Oxygen Canister Vacuum!

Customer Review: Don't get suckered on this item
Summary: 1 Stars

I ordered this item under the assumption that it was new. After 53 days of residental use it died. Ran through the troubleshooting items to no avail. Called Eletrolux customer servic and was informed that all electrolux vacuum cleaners bought through Amazon are used and would not qualify for warranty repair. Called Amazon and was informed that their return policy was only for 30 days. So buyer beware!!!
