Customer Review: Good product. Worst customer service ever. EVER.

My oxygen 6988D is one day less than a year old. It has been an excellent appliance. However, tHe carpet attachment stopped working last week work. I called the 800 number in my owners manual and got referred to a local repair shop. They diagnosed the problem as the eletrified wand but told me that I had to call Eletrolux to replace it. That was where the fun began
THe people at the other end of the 800 number in the owners manual completely disavow having anything to do with vacuums, which are not considered "major" applicances. Considering what I paid for this I beg to disagree. They transfer you to another number so you're on th ephone about 10 minutes at this point. The people on the SECOND number tell you they have nothing to do with vacuums. They give you ANOTHER phone number. THIS number was for the US headquarters of Aerus Electrolux and THEY really do have nothing to do with this appliance. However, they were able to give me the phone number of the Electrolux USA facility in Augusta, GA (headquarters?). THEY too only handle "major appliances" which someohow exclude vacuums. And so on. Folks I was on the phone over an hour - inlcuding one "hold" of over twenty minutes when the "supervisor" was "personally connecting " me to the "right" department - had.
So, 65 minutes on the phone, customer service reps are clueless, their supervisors are apparently extremely busy executives as they are not made available. The ignorance and lack of technology (including an inability to stay with you on the phone to connect you to the next number) are genuinely astounding in this day and age. I would not only stay away form this appliance but unfortunately from the entire Electrolux brand.

My last Electrolux finally died after 13 years, so read all the consumer report issues and selected this model about 2 months ago.
Strengths:
Excellent at removing pet hair from carpets - could not be more pleased with the performance on carpets and pet fur (2 cats + a golden retriever/collie mix = lots of fur!)
Cord and hose lengths are longer than my old one - not sure why other reviewers complained; seem just as long as my Mom's Hoover cord.
Nice compact size - much easier to fit in the closet and carry up stairs than old model
Price is less than my old model too
Areas needing improvement:
Bag is small, might not be a problem if you don't have pets
Bag can be annoying to remove - there is a plastic slide toggle that tends to not move out of the way enuf to allow the bag to slide off easily
For some reason, they designed the power head/tube assembly to swivel in one direction. Don't know why, as this makes it awkward to manuever, and it only twists to the right - would rather it remain straight, or, turn in both directions.
My husband complains that the regular head doesn't work on hard floors. I find it works OK (tho not as good as old model). If you use the hard floors attachement it is fine - we have been used to doing all the floors without having to change heads and so have to make a 2nd trip to the closet for the attachement.
Overall, I'd recommend this - would buy again.

I love this little vacuum - it is lightweight and powerful. Really picks up the dirt and is easy to maneuver. The bags are easy to change and though they are small, I don't feel like I am changing then often.Customer Review: Great Machine!

This vac was recommended by our allergist, but after reading some of the user reviews I was a bit reluctant to buy it. I have to say that after 3.5 months I am extremely pleased with this unit. This thing has incredible suction...the first time I used it I think I filled the bag almost halfway and this was less than a week after vacuuming with the old machine. Also, despite the power, this vacuum is pretty quiet. I have no complaints at all with the performance, nor have I had any problems with it. Everything is still good as new. I love that it's easy to connect/disconnect the parts. I do have a couple very small gripes. The first one is that the power head could sound better. It works great, but the outer shell vibrates and makes it sound cheap. My other complaint is that the attachments on the handle will not stay attached. Their location is great, but since they fall off constantly it defeats the whole purpose of having the stored there. Still, the performance of this vacuum more than makes up for those two gripes and I highly recommend it. And yes, this vac really filters the air well. I am using the Clinic bags and I'm not at all afraid to get my face down by the exhaust and breath the air.Customer Review: Great Purchase.

The complaint previous reviewers have mentioned regarding the carpet attachment's design flaw in only rotating in one direction is quite accurate and infuriating. The power cord is also about 15' too short. Other than that, this is the best vacuum ever. It's quiet, powerful, and versatile. What else could you ask for?
