Tools and Hardware Reviews of Energizer 3 LED HeadlightCustomer Review: AWESOME Value Summary: 5 Stars
This inexpensive little headlight is better than the $100-$150 unit you can buy at REI. It has a red mode to preserve night vision, the battery lasts forever, and I actually ran one of mine over on a cement driveway and it wasn't fazed. This would be a good deal at $50 dollars and it's only around $15.
Customer Review: Better than Petzl. Summary: 5 Stars
Much better than the other options out there from Petzl and other dedicated outdoor manufacturers. It's amazing that those other companies can't compete with this little cheap light, and try to pass off less durable, less functional lights for more than 2x the price. The swivel works great and doesn't flop around. Red light is the best addition, works well as a battery saver and to read maps in a car. Water resistant too. I have 4 of these in cars, packs, and on the bike. Runs a long time. It's not blindingly bright, if I need that I have a 190 lumen flashlight. The switch does very occasionally pop on, but it's not a big deal as lots of other lights do it too, but to make it perfect the switch could be a bit stiffer.
Customer Review: Energizer Headlamp Summary: 5 Stars
Great Headlamp! I bought one for each of my girls - Age 8 & 6. They use them to read their books in bed at night. They're lightweight, adjustable and bright. They enjoy the fun of the night vision when they're playing around in the dark together. The headlamp comes with a small storage bag and batteries as well. Our family loves to go summer camping and the girls can't wait to use them.
Customer Review: Energizer vs. Rayovac Summary: 4 Stars
I own both a Rayovac headlamp & an Energizer headlamp and am pleased with both. I am posting the same review in each as a side-by-side comparison...
Energizer: weighs ~2.9 ounces (81 grams) with batteries / 3 AAA batteries, side-by-side, with a snap tight cover which is removed with a coin, key, or screwdriver / 2 red LEDs (for low impact on natural night vision), 4 white LEDs (2 focused forward and 2 "flood") / swivel head / single strap around your head (adjustable) / switch is a push button toggle on the top of the unit / switch positions are: red LEDs, 2 front focused LEDs, 2 side LEDs, or all 4 white LEDs
Rayovac: weighs ~4.4 ounces (125 grams) with batteries / 3 AAA batteries in a cylindrical cartridge which is closed with a threaded cap / 2 red LEDs (for low impact on natural night vision), 1 white LED, 1 Krypton bulb / swivel head / 1 strap around your head and 1 over the top (both are adjustable) / switch is a rotating knob on the opposite end of the battery cap / switch positions are: red LEDs, single white LED, or Krypton bulb
Pros & Cons: Both headlamps do an excellent job of freeing up your hands. I use the Rayovac when working around the house or on the car because the single white LED is more than sufficient lighting in close quarters. The Rayovac also has increased stability due to the additional strap. I use the Energizer when working outdoors because of the brightness afforded by additional LEDs. I would not recommend the Rayovac single white LED for seeing at a distance outside. I find the 4 Energizer LEDs are brighter than the Rayovac Krypton bulb, as well. Although the Energizer is definitely brighter, I find that it adds a slight glare to my vision--which the Rayovac does not. The Energizer push button switch can be difficult to press, especially while wearing it. The Rayovac is definitely my favorite of the two, but I'd recommend the Energizer over the Rayovac if you're going to be using it outside for things like evening yard work or camping.
Customer Review: Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
I use it for night fishing. I use both the red and white depending on need. I am VERY happy with it. I have it over 2 years now.
