I checked Consumer Reports '05 before buying this item. It received a high rating for the price. I paid approx.$125.00. I think it was second or third but the other vacs were double the price. This one has a bag and hepa filter. I replaced my bagless WindTunnel Vac with this one. I found bagless vacs to be too messy. The suction on this vacuum is better than any vacuum that I have owned. It has a dial to turn when using the tools that diverts ALL of the airflow to the tool. This makes the tools suction better than any that I've tried. It has a beater brush/bar that hugs the carpet and makes it feel like a self-propelled (it's not). We've owned numberous vacuums during our 28 years of marriage. Some better than others. I can honestly say, that for the money involved, this vacuum is probably the best value out there. We've had this one for over a month and use it almost every day. After conferring with my wife, we both feel there isn't anything about this vacuum that bothers us. It seems to have exceptional cleaning ability and without a lot of noise. It feels like it's quite durable. The accessories that come with it are stored well on the unit for easy accessability. I guess the only thing I would change on it, if I could, would be to have the electrical cord 5 or 6 feet longer. In our house, that would then minimize "re-plugs" before finishing.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market who doesn't have to have a power-driven unit. Because of it's durability, it is just a bit heavy, but shouldn't be an issue for most people.

On the whole, an excellent vacuum cleaner. It does a super job of getting rid of dirt. My only criticism is that it is a bit heavier than I had anticipated and it does take some force when pulling it back towards you.Customer Review: Eureka 4870dt

The vacuum is a little heavier than I thought it would be. The suction is tremendous, I can't believe the dirt that it has picked up and the vacuum that it is replacing is only 2 years old and was a canister and I thought it was doing a great job!
