I will say it is a great vaccum, but I am little disappointed. I used it 4 times and the belt already snapped. I called to check on recalls and nothing has been reported. Replacement costs $8.50-10.00.Customer Review: Belts Break Often

I bought this vacuum because it had a good review on Consumer Reports. I don't like it. It is very noisy. It is very heavy to push around. The belt breaks about every other month. I owned an Orek for many years and was convinced by consumer reports that this was better. I am thinking of going back to Orek.Customer Review: Best BUY

Review: Eureka 4870DT Upright Vacuum Home-Cleaning SystemI would have to say I have never bought or used such a nice Vacuum my whole life. This Vacuum is simply amazing. I had a Hoover Bagless lower end model for 6 months and will never buy a bagless again. The Hoover was too messy and didn't clean the floors. It also blew dust all over the place and couldn't find the filters anywhere. This Eureka 4870 is the Consumer Reports best pick for the dollar, It's compared to ...vacuums. I have to say its amazing. If you are in the market for a vacuum DO NOT PASS THIS ONE UP. I did lots of research on Upright vacuums and glad I picked this one. I did some research in my area (South Florida) and found some of the stores DID and DIDN'T carry the bags for this model (bag # RR), like Wal-Mart and Target. But some stores you wouldn't think about going to for vacuum bags like BrandsMart USA and Best Buy have them. Also a little info about the Eureka 4870, it comes with 1 year's supply of bags.
I read all the reviews and the only TRUE common disliked part of this vacuum is the foot release peddle, it is a little hard to press down on. But I found if you press forward on the handle while stepping on the release peddle, it is not hard to release the haddle.
I am glad that this vacuum lives up to its reviews. It's a TOP PICK and I give it highest honor, way to go EUREKA.

I have two cats and three birds, so there's lots of dust and dander in the house. It's amazing how you can HEAR the dirt being sucked into it. Everything about this thing is quality. I don't mind the heaviness of the sweeper because it reminds me how powerful it is. I LOVE using this thing! It is worth every penny and has made our carpets look like they are brand new! I was not sure about having a bagged vacuum again, but the bagless threw dust everywhere when you emptied the container. I can't say enough about this sweeper. You will love it! I purchased this vacuum several months ago. I haven't had good luck with vacuums in the past. They never work right, or last very long. But this Eureka vacuum is a winner! I love it! It is quieter than others I've owned, works better than any I've owned and is wonderful to use. I like the wide path and it picks up everything! I have a son and a dog and a mechanic husband...and my carpets have never looked so nice! I would HIGHLY recommend this vacuum to anyone who asks!
