Customer Review: Rebuilt?
Summary: 3 Stars

I've only had this vac for a week and I've used it twice with great success. My real concern is that on the back of the unit the manufacturer sticker says "Rebuilt". I've gone over this page again and again looking for mention of this item being refurbed or rebuilt and see none.

Customer Review: SmartVac is a winner
Summary: 5 Stars

I was sceptical about ordering online for such a big appliance, but it worked out great. And the vacuum is easy to use and very effective in removing dirt from both rugs and bare floor. I was very pleased with the purchase and the service. Thank you.

Customer Review: So, So vacume, not a best buy!!!!
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased this vacume when I bought my new home. It is a Consumers Report best buy, but it is not that great to me. It never could get the edges clean and the hose was always tipping over the unit. It only did an ok job at vacuming, but nothing that a vacume at half it's cost wouldn't do better. It wasn't noisy as say a Dirt Devil is, it was fairly quiet. My bigest complaints are its handle design and its weight. It has some "ergonical" shaped handle with a funny bulge on it that put quite alot of pressure on only two fingers, it weighs almost 26 lbs!!!!!!!!!, and I (a 200lb construction woker) could only vacume a room at a time before my hand would tire and begin to hurt. The handle design along with its weight is what was hurting my hand. This thing is a boat anchor and since it really doesn't even vacume up all that great makes it a very poor purchase, despite what CR might think about it. I ended up sending mine to where it belonged, I threw it in the trash after about 6 months of it torturing me.

Customer Review: Source of frustration
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased this particular vacuum, as it was a Consumer Reports best buy. It has since fallen down the ratings with the most recent vacuum cleaner tests.

When new, this vacuum cleans like a champ. It has really good suction and is amazing on carpets. The initial negatives include the weight. This thing is heavy. When I initially purchased it, I didn't have any stairs to navigate. Now I have to lug this thing up and down two flights of stairs. This also does not work well for vacuuming the stairs, simply because it is way to heavy and the the wand will only reach a few steps at a time.

At first, I thought it was great. Then the beater brush stopped rolling. So I replaced the belt. I found myself replacing the belt every couple of months. Then, after about a year of owning this unit, I replaced the belt and it was still not working. So I assumed that I had defective belts and kept buying and replacing belts. At this point, the vacuum beater brush spins on hardwood floors, but not carpet. Yes, the carpet height adjustment is in the highest position.

After reading and studying this vacuum cleaner's downfalls, I decided to replace the beater brush assembly and the belt (again). This helped immensely. The vaccum was up and running like new. After about two weeks of brand new-like vacuum, the beater brush stopped rolling on carpet. I'm ready to toss this think in the dumpster. However, I'm trying my best to get as much life out of this as possible.

I'm tempted to give this a one-star rating. However, it worked well initially and is fairly inexpensive when compared to other cleaners. If you haven't already, check out the review "MAJOR REPAIR ISSUES CURRENTLY WITH THIS VACUUM, BUYER BEWARE!, October 19, 2007". I have experienced several of the issues mentioned in that review.

My advice--buy a good vacuum and save yourself hours of frustration. This one just drives me to depression.

Customer Review: Stay away from this company and vacuum
Summary: 1 Stars

I have had always bought a Hoover vacuum but decided to try the Eureka product because Consumer Reports gave it a great review. What a mistake! I have tripped over the cord numerous times, you can not move it from carpet to floor position. Now all the stuff it vacuumed up is coming out of the bottom of the vacuum. NO the bag is not full. I tried twice contacting the Allergy Be Gone to no avail. I don't have the box to send it back because my husband inadvertantly threw it out. I really do not like this vacuum and will go back to a Hoover. They last a long time and have great suction. Also, it is very easy to switch from carpet to bare floor. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT AND ALLERGY BE GONE!!!!
